Bruce is really good and you are right - this isn't as pathetic as EVH vs. VV, but I still stand by my position. Even in a hair band, someone like Nuno Bettencourt is miles above Kulick.

Yeah, 'cause CC Deville and Slash were such great lead players...please...Vinnie and Mark could wipe the floor with most of the lead players out there and Bruce was no slouch either.

What's hysterical about this poll is I like Stevens a lot...he's a hell of a rhythm player and had a great sound, but up against Bruce?
Nothing Steven's did in the 80's comes close to a Kulick lead.

Yes, I do like what he has done with Deadland Ritual but what do we have so far? Two songs?

Really? Do you have the 3 shows Mark played with KISS in soundboard quality to compare? He was fired for upstaging Paul...even Bruce will admit to that.

And while White Tiger will never go down in metal history for being a great album, Mark's playing on it is fantastic.

It's an OK lead...it's not in the same class as something Bruce did on say, Love's A Deadly Weapon or even Hell or High Water...let alone an Unholy or King of Hearts.

I am not even a fan of Dokken, but George Lynch was better than Mark St. John and Bruce Kulick. So was Randy Rhoads and Jake E. Lee.

Hell the guy KISS could have hired - but was too young at the time, Doug Aldrich is better than Mark and Bruce.

Okay but with Stevens it's not just about the solos. It's his whole approach to playing guitar. He does cool stuff throughout the songs.

I concur. Besides Ace - kiss has had a very uninspiring litany of guitarists. (I say this and really enjoy one of Vinnie’s albums: LIU & one of Bruce’s: COS. For the most part G&P just wanted some who would kiss their asses. Not the best way to have a legitimate, thriving band...

Those guys are from like 30 years ago... But to be fair, if you're not a musician or a total music nut, there's not a whole lot of reason to know them. They're basically big name, hired gun guitarists...

You know I never paid any attention to Billy Idol songs, the hits are so overplayed and typical Rock radio fodder that I have entirely dismissed him. Every single cover band where I live will play "White Wedding". This has put Billy Idol in the same category as a Tommy Tutone, Loverboy or Honeymoon Suite in my head. But this thread got me watching a few videos of Steve Stevens and...alrigghhtt, I get it. I had seen him before but never listened to him play. Hearing him talk about his riffs and stuff is actually really interesting.

It made me think how instantly recognizable his riffs in those songs are, even if I don't like the hits. Somehow I never took note of the solo in "Rebel Yell", oh man. I guess I really have tuned out everytime I've heard the song. I've never willingly listened to that song before yesterday.

Kind of a pointless side note here but hey, thought I'd add that.
