Anyone else love the Creatures era?

Post by DoggFather »

Probably because it's my first KISS concert, but I have some sort of special attachment to this period.

I'm an originals guy, but the Creatures era is awesome.

Anyone else feels the same?

I'm an original four guy, but I did like Creatures and did see the show in person. Was disappointed that Ace wasn't there (no announcement), but the new guys rocked hard and the show was good. Much better than the imposter BS.

My top eras of Kiss:

1.Destroyer era
2.Creatures era
3.Reunion era
4.Revenge era

So yes I love the Creatures era!! One of the best shows I have witnessed from anyone and Creatures is #3 on my list of Kiss albums. They knock it out of the park every time they get desperate and hungry! That's why their coasting now because most fans accept what they've been doing since 2004. If not maybe we would have gotten "desperate, hungry,on a mission Kiss again" instead of "heritage Kiss" *yawn*!

Yes I love it (LOUD!)

IMO, Vincent & Carr, 82 to 84 was the only time period that came close to greatness, as the original band was in the 70s.

Both Creatures (7) & Lick It Up (3) are in my Top 10.

Yes!
Creatures was my first Kiss concert, too.

Even though I liked The Elder ,some of the songs made me wonder where the band was headed. Especially Odyssey...” a child in a sun dress”?? Whaaa?? :scratch:This does not belong in a Kiss song ’ was what my 14 year old self thought.

It made me grin from ear to ear to hear songs like COTN, WM and ILIL because I felt like the old spirit of Kiss back. 8)

I love the album, but was never a big fan of the live version of KISS where it was basically KISS on steroids. The groove was lost and never returned until Eric Singer came on board. That said, I don’t lay the blame on Eric Carr at all. From what I’ve heard and read, it was Gene that wanted everything played at breakneck speed to compete with bands like Van Halen, etc. That was a bad move in my opinion.

My opinion of KISS began to change when Dynasty came out only to drop further with Unmasked. While I did love the Elder, by the time Creatures came out other bands were getting most of my attention. Creatures also marked the album when it finally dawned on me that Ace wasn't playing as the Frehley magic was gone. LIU finished me off for a long time. (Sorry VV fans.) The about face (literally) didn't stop me from getting the music, but I didn't follow what they were up to or going to shows. I just wasn't interested in that version of KISS.

Since then, I've grown to like Creatures, but at the time I was fairly ambivalent.

Love it.
My first KISS show was on this tour.

For many of my early school years, I was smack dabbed in the middle of Kiss’ roughest spot career-wise.
In fact, the cry repeatedly went up “KISS sucks” at this time and could you blame my classmates?
After a decade of hard rock gems, the band had hit a dry spot and cranked out four solo LPs, one disco (Kissco) LP, a pop album and a concept record ala Jethro Tull or something.....

Creatures was tough. Meaning, it was cool. It was cool to openly love KISS again. The kids at school loved ‘I Love It Loud’. They (KISS) were on an upward trajectory, and they resparked and rekindled the mystery and curiosity in kids again, even if the album flopped.

I have a fondness for the era quite a bit. I was just discovering Motley Crue at the same time, so it was great. It felt like the old guard had a young pup upstart to carry the torch for fire and blood demon makeup rock. I felt like a genuine headbanger with KISS sincerely leading the charge for me again.

I never personally stopped loving Kiss, so of course I love(d) the era. I will say, though, I’m an even bigger fan of the LICK IT UP era, because that’s when I first saw them live. That’s for a different thread. I digress...

Love it and it's LONG overdue for a special deluxe edition:

Disc 1 - audiophile quality remastered album (including the remixes of Creatures of the Night and Partners In Crime)
Disc 2 - Creatures re-imagined; new mixes of all the songs originally recorded. You could include alternate leads, songs like Back on the Streets and Betrayed, plus the KILLERS songs.
Disc 3 / 4 - live show (if one exists in soundboard or better quality)

I'd be happy if they had just added a little more bottom-heavy reverb on the album. And slowed the tempo down on I Still Love You, upping its length to an enjoyably epic 8 mins.

A return to the darker imaged early KISS of 73-75, but with a heavier musical edge.

After the crapshow that was the Elder, COTN was refreshingly heavy, Eric sounded great.

Also my first KISS Concert was on this tour.

Only downside was Ace's departure for Vinnie.

Easily the strongest musical lineup. But they were different.

KISS was a Hard Rock band. Vinnie's Kiss was METAL-N-Roll .... or Turbo KISS.

1976-1977 Original KISS & July 1982-April 1984 Vinnie's KISS The two best time periods for the band.

I sure do; BUT - I only wish they would’ve told us about the guitar player switch right up front. There’s no shame in doing that. As a fan I felt frauded, belittled, disrespected, unworthy, unimportant, useless, helpless, hopeless and completely insignificant. You shoulda told us man; you shoulda told us. Both Frehley and Cusano deserved the decency of a proper acknowledgement. You should have told us.
