I never cared for either of these albums. Remastering doesn't change the content and make it better. It's interesting that other than Ace, who truly has released some good material away from Kiss, when Paul, Gene and Peter have released solo material it really hasn't been very good collectively. They're much better together than apart.

I was excited at first, and then saw the OOC hasn't got the original cover and then LMRY doesn't have the Japanese cover.

Wonder if any of the tracks are 17 seconds longer on these??

What was the original OOC cover? I've only ever seen the exploding jukebox.

Apologies, Spoiler - the original cover is just an unedited version of the image they've shown in the link. The woman on the right hand side of the original cover was reportedly meant to represent Lydia Criss. She's been edited out later reissues. Not entirely 100% sure if it is her, but whoever it is, they don't get to make most reissues of this particular cover.

And it's not as if it's a printing error, and everything has just been cropped incorrectly, because the title of the album and Peter's name remains in the centre of the image... Have a look.

I always thought that the lore was Lydia was the woman in the center, going after the blonde on the left (Debbie).

Both decent, if not great, albums.

I used to think Let Me Rock You was Peter's best but now I think the '78 solo album is. I don't care for Peter's version of Jealous Guy.

I can live with Roxy Music's/Bryan Ferry's version.

I hear ya! I love the original LMRY Japanese cover. That Times Square at dusk shot is just so cool. It just smells of late 70s/early 80s New York City.

Anyone reading this fancy putting out some VINYL reissues? Anyone? Pretty please..

What’s the story of some tracks being 17 seconds longer? I missed this..

It's my understanding that Peter was covering Roxy Music's cover, because he's a big fan of Lennon and Roxy.

Of the 2 albums, I think Out of Control has more spirit and spunk, the result of Criss/Penridge running amok in a cocaine haze. I don't think a whole lot of time or effort went into it. Astute drummers will notice in "My Life" how Peter slightly switches the kick drum pattern in the second verse, not due to an artistic decision, but because he probably just wasn't paying attention to his own playing. I do enjoy "There's Nothing Better" and "In Trouble Again" and a couple others. Let Me Rock You arguably contains better material and is a decently strong production, but Peter sounds "distant" and oddly detached from the project. Maybe it's due to too much Poncia gloss, but it's a bit faceless. "Move On Over" has some good Criss personality in it, but the other tunes could be anyone singing. Too bad, because "Let It Go" is a punchy rocker and I love "First Day in the Rain." That should have been a hit for someone. With all this said, I'd still take either of these albums over the Spinal Tap-ish Criss Cat #1.

The Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry one is really good, especially for a cover of such an iconic song/artist. Roxy guitarist Phil Manzanera’s lead guitar on the cover version is magic.

Oh, erm, the recent Japanese reissue of the Best of Solo CD features a Paul track (Take Me Away Together As One) which is 17 seconds longer than the solo album version 😳

Universal Music Japan are doing some great releases. Are they able to release any Kiss product they like, if so are they able to do deluxe releases?

Peter Criss solo records were re-released back after the reunion.

These are budget reissues that are not remasters. Not comparable to the recent KISS MQA releases which were premium remastered releases with deluxe packaging. Still, great to get if you don’t already have on CD.

So that's why the cover seemed so unbalanced to me. That chick doesn't even look like Lydia, as the blonde doesn't look like Debra.

I always thought Peters version of Jealous Guy was done in the style of Bennie and the Jets.

Anyways, I already have these in vinyl and CD so I really wish there were something novel about them. Yeah I'll buy em.

I am hoping that they both have lyrics for all songs because the U.S. releases don't have the lyrics in any way, and I am hoping that Let Me Rock You has the original Japanese cover art.

I always thought that Peter's first two post KISS solo albums had some great songs on them but could both have been more focused. I think he really hit on something with 'Let It Go' and 'Tears' on LMRY and should have made a whole LP in that vein (melodic AOR rock). If anyone out there hasn't heard either of them I would say they're definitely worth buying but don't spend a lot of money on 'em.

Funny, I never put much into any post KISS Peter, as I didn't really dig his solo much. Reading this made me go through my vinyl to see if I even had any of it...I have OOC and the Criss Cat #1 vinyl...but only recalled my CC#1 cd and my OOC 8-track...both sealed. I don't recall ever listening to them on vinyl. I did discover I do not own LMRY at all...which is disturbing, for some reason. Might have to pick these up.

I also discovered that for some reason I keep my Black n Blue LPs amongst my Ace/Vinnie/Peter/Mark/Bruce records. I don't wonder what I was smoking. I do wonder why though...must be Peter involvement. :)

Cropped:

And it's not as if it's a printing error, and everything has just been cropped incorrectly, because the title of the album and Peter's name remains in the centre of the image... Have a look.
Crazy! Never noticed that before! I wonder if they did the zoom in for the 1997 CD release?

I used to think Let Me Rock You was Peter's best but now I think the '78 solo album is. I don't care for Peter's version of Jealous Guy.
Nothing will be better than the Lennon version.
I can live with Roxy Music's/Bryan Ferry's version.
The Faces too

Thanks for the heads up as I’ve always wanted these on CD.
I never purchased anything from CD Japan but just ordered them.

Ferry/Roxy Music version was released not long after Lennon as killed, as Ferry was a big fan.

It reached No1 in Australia.
