I have so many magical KISS memories that I experienced with my dad! I so appreciate how much my parents tolerated my KISS obsession!
Yeah me too. Another great one is Christmas '77 when I got Alive II and the look on my mom's face looking at the Gene picture. She could barely stand it! But she still bought the record for me. And then another time I was home sick with bronchitis and she bought me the Robert Duncan book (and a Wings album)
My mom also thinks KISS is gross. However, she has always supported my fandom! :)

I discovered Kiss in 1975 and quickly had purchased all albums to date...so I thought.

I started my summer school holiday break and was staying with my grandparents in a country town a few hours away from Melbourne. I used to catch the bus into the city center every couple of days to kill time looking at shops. I was in a record store looking at Kiss releases thinking I already owned all on offer, until I saw Kiss Alive 2 in the rack. Now this was before the internet revealed daily news, Kissology DVDs, even magazines could be months old with any information.

I took the album home & devoured the center fold out of the album, tattoos and magazine highlighting the development of the band's look, makeup, staging and costumes. Keep in mind, Australia hadn't seen Kiss in person yet. The earlier album covers had their faces, but generally, nothing of their costumes or stageshow. On Dressed to Kill, they were in business suits, then Destroyer through to Love Gun were comic character paintings. The solo albums and Double Platinum still kept us Aussies in the dark. Dynasty & Unmasked continued this trend of NO PHOTOS...!! To see Gene's boots were actually real and the costumes were unique to each band member - it simply blew my mind...

Gene once said: "So fucking what? The magic is back!" However, I think KISS has always been magical! :)

A friend and I attended the rehearsal of Kiss Symphony in Melbourne the night before the actual concert. It was filmed to capture close-ups of the band. The audience of about 150 of us was tightly controlled, and during one of the breaks between sets I received permission to go to the restroom. On my way back in I had to walk up a ramp near the stage, and when I got about half way, I looked up to see KISS walking toward me! They were deep in discussion and looked at me oddly when we came face to face. I just backed myself up against the wall so they could pass, which they did without any fuss. I loved the concerts themselves, and this made it all the more magical.

Equally surreal and magical was Peter Criss's farewell gig which I also attended in Melbourne. When the lights dimmed, the show opened with Peter walking through the audience from the rear of the room singing "I Can't Stop The Rain". Never in my wildest imagination would I have expected this show to have happened, let alone to ever hear Peter performing songs from his 1978 solo album live. After the show, Peter walked around the room. He came over and I was lucky enough to give him a hug, say "thank you", and have a photo taken with him.

It's been pretty amazing being a Melbourne based KISS fan. I've enjoyed a lifetime of memorable experiences. Their magic - in all of its forms - is always just that... magic. I love this band and I'm very grateful.

First time seeing them in concert 12/16/1977 at Madison Square Garden, New York City.
Also going to the Unplugged show and seeing reunite with Peter and Ace is extremely special to me.

Seeing the cover of Alive for the first time, buying it and then getting my mind blow while listening repeatedly for weeks.

I still listen to it regularly and it NEVER gets old.

Arriving at a sparsely attended arena in Dubuque Iowa after a 2 hour drive for the Creatures tour wondering if Ace would be there and then getting blown away by the show. Still the greatest concert I've ever attended.

Seeing KISS on the HITS tour after rumors of a set list full of songs from the makeup era still expecting a lame show like the Crazy Nights tour. Then they opened with I Stole Your love and it was fucking amazing !

Seeing them on the Reunion tour in November of '96 in Dallas. My first concert and one of the best concerts I've ever seen! I finally got a chance to see the original lineup in makeup and as a fan too young to see them in the 70s that was a dream come true. A night I will never forget.

Me and my mom waiting for hours in line to meet them at a Lick It Up In store at Fiip Side records in Skokie Ill. Still remember the butterflies in my stomach hearing Not For The Innocent on the speakers and seeing glimpses of them over the crowd in anticipation for my turn. Got a promotional poster and cassette sleeve signed that day. No pics though which I’ve always regretted.

Based on the previews and hype, the Magic book should be very magical once it is released. Maybe it will take a stroke of magic for it to be released! This is totallly possible, as KISS is totally magical!

A mini-concert put on by myself and three of my mates, in costumes and makeup, lip-syncing to the Alive II promo medley at a Boy Scouts break-up party on the last day of primary (elementary) school in 1980 - and it was pouring rain.

(Also I had a skin irritation so had to make do with a homemade Gene mask rather than makeup!)

Seeing and stealing my cousin's ALIVE II record

First Kiss show was '88, but the most magical was Tiger Stadium. I was fortunate to go with friends who got us on the guest list with passes. After that show I used the laminate for the next four, and again a few weeks later for the two shows in Chicago.
