People still pay to see Gene Simmons. Future fans won't care about a hollow replica of nostalgia

I think it's more likely they will tour as holograms. Though it will be weird seeing as they're all alive.

IT's a club theater type of thing. Nothing wrong with if if it comes off.

I'd watch a reality show to pick the next 4 but it would have to have the original 4. No Tommy or Eric.

I agree. I'm fine with the current line up touring, but it would be nice for the originals to find a way to end this together, and give all of us, and them, closure. Something like this would be a good vehicle for doing that.

andreww1962 wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2019 6:17 am I would envision it starting with an American Idol like TV show with Paul and Gene as the judges. Having those guys and showing a bunch of vintage KISS videos would ensure that their current fans would at lest tune in. Over the course of the season fans would become acquainted with their favourite Demon, Spaceman, Catman and Starchild, and through the voting process they might become more vested in the new group.

So say KISS 2.0 came to your town with Gene & Paul emceeing. Original Love Gun stage, all original outfits, and a band with enough energy to replicate every move KISS ever did. Would that be something you'd pay $50 to see?
Again, I don't think it would succeed over the long haul, but it would make for a great season of TV that would lead to a Las Vegas residency maybe.
This.

Queen did this several years ago, an online internet show recruited a bunch of musicians to form a band they call and officially endorse, Queen Extravaganza in 2012

The band has more members than Queen ever had onstage (til now I guess) to reproduce the studio sound as accurately as possible. They've toured internationally in 800-2,000 clubs or small theatres. They've toured album anniversaries or themed tours, just finished a South American tour.

They don't dress like Queen did or anything like that, they just market themselves as an officially endorsed tribute act by Brian and Roger. Like any tribute band they fill a void when the real band is inactive (most of their tour dates have been between Queen + Adam Lambert dates) and given there's many Queen cover bands, having an "official" title lends credibility to them when a fan decides which tribute to see.

Kiss might go down a similar path but knowing the way they've worked in the past when they have taken over certain fan created things, like the Konventions, I wouldn't be surprised that they make a move to stop unauthorised tribute bands using the logo and/or make up, much like they shut down the fanzines during the reunion/PC era and wanted everyone's database to be added to their Kissonline presence.

That way the only tribute act out there is theirs. If they shut the other bands down, then they instantly give their version an audience regardless of size - if you want to see a Kiss tribute show, you can only see the one Kiss created/endorsed. It's a possibility, they own the rights to everything visually.
