Paul 89 solo tour soundcheck

Post by Tail of a hurricane »

A bit fuzzy, but some cool footage here.

I’ve got the 89 solo tour book coming in the mail. An incredible line up on this tour.

Love the line up would have been cool to hear what a album could have been made with this group

Consider the time frame: Crazy Nights, Smashes... and Hot In The Shade. I'm going to venture a guess it would not have been great, regardless of the lineup.

It’s a soundcheck, that’s not rehearsals.

Exactly. It would have sounded like the Top Gun soundtrack

Yeah, just without the Grammy and nine platinum awards.

Great find, thanks for sharing! You'll be happy with the book. It was a great tour, I was lucky enough to see it twice.

The same Top Gun soundtrack that was a #1 record, sold 9 million albums, produced six successful singles, including a #1 single that won Academy Award and Golden Globe awards?

That album out sold the majority of Kiss albums in the 1980s combined.

I’m pretty sure there is a good chance Ratt and Judas Priest would have reconsidered not using tracks for that movie after it was so successful.

But instead Judas Priest used a terrible cover for Johnny B. Good.

Cool video and great band.

I went to 6 of these shows back in 1989. I had a great time at every one of them, and Paul's voice was in great shape.
Its great living on the east coast where he did so many of these shows back then.

I went to the show in Cleveland. It was great hearing I Stole Your Love, C'mon and Love Me, I Want You, 3 songs from his solo album, and an as of then unreleased Hide Your Heart. Well, I enjoyed the hell out of it anyway. :)

I saw this tour at The Palace in Hollywood. The rest of the band was there too. First time meeting Bruce was this night. (I had forgotten about this). Great show, great songs. I still have my 'I Had A One Night Stand' shirt. What tour book are you talking about???

Saw this tour in Philly. Won tickets on the radio. I was on cloud nine. So fun. If I remember correctly, I saw the Revenge lineup there a few years later. Amazing.

Bob's interpretation of the final part of the main solo is hilarious, but Paul is fantastic.

Saw a show at the Stone Pony (NJ) in Feb 89. Best KISS related show I ever attended.

Paul was in his absolute prime then, and he knew it. Looked so confident with his abilities. Shame what he’s become.

Nope but it is shameful that a 70 year old guy is embarrassing himself by still trying to do what he did 30-40 years ago and failing miserably while charging fans big bucks for a very subpar performance. And that’s being kind.

I attended the show at the Palace in Los Angeles. For the first eight songs, it was the greatest KISS related performance I had ever seen. And then…

…beginning with I Still Love, the performance turned into one of the most forgettable Kiss related performances I had ever seen. The most memorable occurrences from that point forward we’re all generated by the audience, who routinely removed their tops and called out for Gene who sat in the balcony.
