I have all the sympathy for Wolfgang, but don't expect his album to be anything like Van Halen.
More polished and, dare I say, more bland. Kind of ultraperfect pop-rock, not my personal cup of tea.

I prefer bits of SS. For all that I laugh at some of Paul's antics he's still a good songwriter unlike WVH.

These albums couldn't be further from each other musically, so an unusual comparison.

That said, I have been really surprised by the WVH. It's really pretty good. Soul Station is already a space saver on my shelves.

Wolf’s album is a legitimate artistic statement - Paul’s is a legitimate bowel movement

Wolfgang will make a second album. Soul Station will not. SS was pretty much dead on arrival. A rocking Peter Criss solo album might actually sell better than SS.

To be fair, that 8000 of Paul's were his 'traditional' album sales, I believe that's just physical albums, not counting digital sales. That's the chart Paul made the top-10 on. The same week, even Beiber only sold 30,000 in traditional sales. Shows how digital (and streaming tallys) really rules sales these days. I doubt that Wolfgang is going to beat Beiber in traditional sales. He'll more than likely beat Soul Station tho' overall and chart higher on the regular chart.

I don't think the digital sales of SS make much of a difference in this case. If anything - it would even further widen the gap between Wolfgang and his traditional/digital sales. SS was a failure.

Probably Wolf's. His last name will be the best marketing he could ever get.

I too also don't think Paul's SS sold too many in digital. His buyers were older and they still tend to buy physical a lot, especially the Kiss completists who want the physical CD for the collection. Probably a rarer case these days where physical copies far outsold the digital. Interesting though how Soul Station still only managed #170 I think it was on the chart, a number of years ago I think his sales tally would have meant a higher position. I guess more people are buying and streaming especially than in recent years.

One little tidbit, on Spotify, Paul has earned about 700 album sales, as they equate 1500 spins of songs off an album with one album sale, and SS has approximately 1,050,000 song spins.

It is polished and bland. And also nothing like Van Halen.

But it `s not really pop rock at all. Its more like modern alternative rock or even metal.

Someone above called it a "Legitimate artistic statement". I don't buy this at all. Wolfie`s album is very paint by numbers job where the influences are easy to hear. Wolfie is very professional but without any kind of voice of his own.

Regardless WVH will bury SS in sales.

You might be right, today's genres is not my strong suit.
However, I was disappointed because I hoped some of Van Halen's energy might be in there.
