What is with that effed-up logo animation during RNRAN? Screwing up a K was bad in 1990 but how do you mess up the SS in 2021? Damn, will somebody ever pay attention to the finer details for KISS.

Anyhow, nice to see a pair of real logos hauled out of storage again. How many years now since they’ve used one?

Why does Gene fuck up the bass to DRC so bad every time? Is he trying to distract from the canned vocals?

Despites everything that everyone felt was wrong with that performance I feel that seeing them perform live again in front of fans after what we have endured the past sixteen months is pretty cool. It is great that people who actually enjoy seeing the band play will be getting a chance to do so again starting in August. It is also great for those who have nothing else to do but bitch, complain, and cut down the band to have many more shows to bitch about, complain about, and to cut down. Nice to see life getting back to normal.

People can be critical of something they love(d) without it being conflated with "bitching, moaning and complaining" - if Paul is telling us one day in interviews that the band is better and more consistent than ever but then goes out the next day and plays a concert where Gene is flubbing the lyrics to War Machine, Eric is dropping his sticks, the band are downtuned so much that Gene's bass sounds like loose elastic bands flapping in the wind and on top of it all Paul is miming, for pity's sake, then yes we have the right to be critical of that.

Thought the stage looked good when the camera pulled out at the end - didn't expect the hydraulic platforms, Paul was in a good mood and seemed to connect with Gene more than usual. Felt bad for the guys yelling for Parasite and She only for them to go straight into RNRAN.

How much of this was actually live? 20%? Backing vox and choruses all sounded too clean and organised to be live to me, which makes me wonder if actually playing live is too much of a timing issue now. More and more of it seems to be pre-recorded. I can easily see them playing to 100% recorded shows by the end of the tour.

He said "one more time" instead of "goodnight" and really thought there was one more explosion it seems ... I wonder why. (24:15)

Tommy & Gene tried to have his back by continuing the chord behind him, but are actually emphasizing the hick-up since Eric and the lights had already completely dropped out.

'We're Always In Sync With Each Other'

Does that mean he was INCONSISTENT here?

The lip sync snd click make it boring. Had they played fully live, even with Paul sounding bad it would have been exciting to see them after so much time. Now it sound identical too all previous shows, so not really exciting.

Being objective... The positives are that KISS are back in front of an audience and that was an amazing show. I thought that RARAN sounded really good. The band definitely sounds good when they're not tied to that click track and Gene is singing. I liked the setlist too. No surprises but a good selection of songs. I'm happy that War Machine is now considered a predictable choice. For a song that was never a single, from their worst selling (of the original run) LP then that's pretty good going!

The negatives, well the obvious really. As I mentioned the click track is really holding things back and poor ol' Paul's vocals are never gonna be great at this stage. I also wish they would get a KISS fan to do the video wall. Use actual logos from the past and generally do stuff that looks like it belongs on a KISS stage. There's such a plethora of material that could be incorporated from the band's history it's a shame they don't use it, simply for the fact that it looks better than what they're using now.

The fact is that this is what KISS is in 2021. The criticisms are totally valid as are the opinions of folks who just enjoy it for what it is.

So, er, yeah... carry on as you were!

EDIT: I just watched it again from the complete video and I've gotta say I really enjoyed it, and if you've ever read what I think about the current line up and lip sync shenanigans then you'll know that I don't say that easily! But got to give props where they're due. It was fun and the band looked happy and the crowd were really into it. It's a thumbz up from me.

Those KISS logos need to be on the EOTR tour, such a nice touch. Great performance, very surprised to see War Machine and Heavens on Fire in the setlist - hoping that means that this documentary will cover more than just the 70s.

Paul's voice is so shot, that it's sad at this point. Your vocals chords get thinner as you age and that he continues to strain them, well I just hope he doesn't need surgery after they're done.

I don't really use fb, so I only saw the KISS show. Apologies for any confusion. )

And, criticisms aside, I thought it was still a fun little show.

Am I the only one bothered by the distorted logo on screen during RNRAN? The S's look terrible, and the K is off.

Otherwise I thought it was great. I'm not expecting 1977 KISS. The fact that they're still doing this kind of performance at this age, to me, is amazing.

Hate to be the only person on the FAQ to say this...but I actually enjoyed the clip.
They don't sound any better or worse than they did back in early 2019.

"War Machine" kicked butt. I actually liked Tommy's solo.

The band looked good and the crowd seemed to enjoy it.

Glad to hear they're returning in August....Hope I can catch them in Atlantic City.
