"Asylum" was certified gold by the RIAA on 11/13/85. It has sold over 88,000 (3/12) copies since the SoundScan era commenced in 1991. The album was certified gold by the CRIA (Canada) for sales of 50,000 copies on 11/29/85.

"Asylum" saw the first decline in content performed percentage with a drop from 66 to 40% from the previous album. However, four songs from the album were performed on the first night of the tour on November 29, 1985: "King of the Mountain," "Any Way You Slice It," "Tears Are Falling" and "Uh! All Night." "Any Way You Slice It" was only performed once, and then dropped.
