May 15 - USCE Stadium, Belgrade, Serbia **CANCELLED Notes: According to PR, "We regret that due to security concerns relayed by US government intelligence and the unwillingness of our tour insurance policy to cover our concert, we have been left with no choice but to cancel our show in Belgrade. Because of our excitement at returning to play for our many Serbian fans, we all share in the same disappointment and it is our hope to return soon" (KISS Online). However, the cancellation of the show had been rumored for more than a week prior to the official announcement. Additionally, with the riots that followed the declaration of independence by Kosovo, and US recognition of the break-away state, the cancellation was hardly surprising. Serbian rioters broke into the US Embassy in Belgrade and burned it. The two times I've seen these guys they've entertained. Wonder if they like The Sweet?.. · The descending stage was ready for the band, but the curtain appeared to drop early, perhaps a result of the gusty wind, so the band didn't make a grand entry as "Deuce" rumbled to life. · Gene sounded a bit rough, and had mic issues during ILIL with someone seemingly forgetting to switch his mic on on the platform for most of the song. He looked very unomfortble with the wind blwing the platform and was grabbing the mic stand and playing one-handed at times. Eric's drum riser also blew around a bit in the wind during his solo! · Full gammet of KISS tricks: Gene breathes fire; Paul flys to audience stage; Gene pukes blood to bass elephant farts; Eric's levitating drum kit; cherry pickers up front for Gene and Tommy; confetti. And they played some toonz. · Paul got into big time with a fan prior to LG, spitting at him (and who knows who else), doing the "what gas station do you work at"," "I fucked your mother last night, say hello to your Dad," "are you a retard/loser?," "where do you work so I can ask for fries with that," etc. He actually spat quite a bit ito the audience and the guy was eventually escorted out. Security had been much faster ripping the screaming drunk chicks out of the front row if they weren't supposed to be there or talked back. Seven fans were arrested during the show, including one for allegedly spitting at the band which might explain Paul's reaction to that fan... · This show was reported "Sold Out," and could well have been, though judging by the number of tickets still available to walk-ups, and empty seats it possibly technically wasn't (allegedly). Still a decent crowd.

Stage, like the previous night's show, was limited (in scale), but $150 for pleacher tickets is taking the piss especially for a low-end resort such as that. · No platform entry for the band again, probably due to the winds by the lake. · No blood puking bass fart and flying to the platform for Gene during ILIL. · Two songs dropped from previous night. · Thank you KISS for two more shows! |
