Paul has collaborated with British soprano Sarah Brightman for a duet, "I Will Be with You (Where The Lost Ones Go)," due to be released on her "Symphony" album on January 29, 2008. The duet was recorded in 2006, though Sarah previously recorded the song with Chris Thompson, in 2001 for the "Diamond & Pearl" movie (also used as the theme song for Pokemon movie "Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai"). The song was written by Norwegian's Espen Lind and Sissel Kyrkjebø, as "Where The Lost Ones Go." Sarah (who was once married to Andrew Lloyd-Webber) played the female lead in the original 1986 London run of "Phantom of the Opera," a nice tie-in with Paul's performance run in the male lead role. Produced by Frank Peterson, a KISS fan... |

According to TicketMaster (UK) Ace Frehley will be performing a show at London's Astoria on April 11, 2008. If this show does take place, it'll mark Ace's first show (and only second ever) in the UK since March 19, 1988 when he played the Hammersmith Odeon! UK Rock Soldiers, perhaps there is hope! | Saturday, December 22, 2007 10:47:04 AM - 2007 In Review |
2007 certainly was not the year for new KISS music, in the traditional sense. Before covering the intangibles, it is important to again note the passing of Mark St. John, at far young an age. Musically, there was a bit, notably the Criss 1995 demos (My Reality, Seeds, Zig-Zag, and Leave Me Alone) that finally made it into circulation, as did two December 1976 concert audience recordings including live versions of "Hard Luck Woman." Plenty of other concerts also surfaced, but are somewhat less "historic." However, Paul's "Live To Win Live!" remains TBA. As is Gene's "Monster" box set. The lack of both of these releases is completely understandable in a market that has seen the release of KISSOLOGY Volumes 2 and 3. Both of those provide all but the most grumpy more than enough viewing/listening pleasure. Still, these are the sorts of releases that work well within any timeframe, so it ultimately doesn't matter when they come out. The Japanese reissue market was quiet in 2007. Most of the reissues originally expected in December 2006 slipped to March 2007. Greatest KISS was reissued in March and December, and KISS Gold CD+DVD even got a reissue in April. An international version of Alive! hit the market in May - no different than the remaster. However, a 100g pressing of "Destroyer" was issued in August. Official video titles Exposed, Konfidential/Extreme Close-Up, and KISS My Ass all had budget reissues in June. Most markets also saw the unofficial "KISS Loves You" documentary and "Cat Tales." For 2008 what is possible? Anything, but within the context of KISS, I'd be surprised if we didn't see a Volume 4 of KISSology, or at least the start of a single disc archival release series. On the horizon remain a solo release from Bruce Kulick, who has been fitting in recording with his already busy schedule - at least that isn't being rushed and will be crafted with love and attention to detail. With the response to "One For All" the release of Peter's Jazz and Rock albums is probably 50/50. I'd certainly love to hear both of those, particularly the former, for no matter what anyone said about "One For All," Peter is at least making music his way. I'd also expect to hear the Eric Carr EP. Some of the material mentioned for possible inclusion on this release would make any 80-91 fan drool. Maybe not. "Rock The Nation Live!" will be reissued in Japan in January, without the original bonus 3" audio CD. In 2008 I'd expect plenty of the KISS catalog to be reissued in Japan. Many issues are already out-of-print, and it's been a while since the solo albums were reissued. Elsewhere (USA), albums such as "Psycho Circus" and "Carnival of Souls" are out of print, so they may or may not get re-added to the catalog. Universal stayed quite on the compilation front in 2007, so the possibilities of more of these, or eco-friendly repackagings remains. I'm still surprised that the "Alive: Millenium" concert didn't get released as a single disc stand-alone product. Perhaps we'll see the start of an audio archival series now that KISS are slowing down. Of any possibility, hopefully we'll not see "Rock Star: KISS" to replace either Gene or Paul... |

| Monday, December 10, 2007 4:17:07 PM - Eddie Trunk Reviews KISSOLOGY VOL. 3 |
| (From eddietrunk.com) "Had a chance to check out an advance copy of the third and final instalment in the KISSology DVD series. Vol. 3 includes 4 DVDs (5 if you count the bonus disc), and like the others, is packaged and produced extremely well. This set covers the years 1992-2000, so much of the stuff in it is very familiar to even younger Kiss fans, simply because it didn't happen all that long ago and is still somewhat fresh in our minds. There is a full Revenge show, Reunion show, Psycho Circus show, and Farewell show. All stuff that you may have seen on the bootleg circuit, but this is the cleanest and best looking and sounding version by far. The greatest thing about all the concerts on all the DVDs is that they are real! I am so tired of DVDs with re-recorded sound and vocals, as many of the new ones are. All of this stuff is what Kiss really sounds like if you were at the shows, and that's what you want, to feel like your at the concert in your living room. As the Brits say "warts and all". Cool to see the Revenge show on here, even though in my opinion Hot In The Shade was by far the best non original, non makeup tour the band ever did. But this really is the video of the Alive 3 shows, so it's great to have. Eric Singer plays his ass off on this show as the newest member of the band, and everyone sounds great on this and it's shot well (some of the shows appear to be from video board feeds and have all close ups). Another really cool thing on this set is the unedited Unplugged show. I was lucky enough to have been at this taping and it's finally great to have all the songs as well as the between song raps from the band members that show the loose, fun vibe of this moment in KISStory. You also get the entire Psycho Circus show that Fox showed only a bit of, as well as the one time PPV The Last Kiss from the Meadowlands. Many of these shows I attended so it's cool to have documents on DVD. I really enjoyed the complete VMA set from '96, never saw that." Read more HERE. |

| Thursday, December 06, 2007 5:05:16 AM - Cancelled Whistler promoter being sued. |
(From Vancouver Sun)
The management company handling the glam rock band KISS is suing a Vancouver concert promoter for almost $1 million for cancelling a concert scheduled for Whistler last Sept. 15. In a statement of claim filed in B.C. Supreme Court, McGhee Entertainment of Los Angeles claims the promoter, Big Mountain Concert Co. Inc, and its president Dennis MacDonald, agreed to pay $900,000 US for the band to perform a 90-minute concert in Whistler. The plaintiff claims it was ready, willing and able to discharge its obligations but the concert was cancelled Sept. 3 by BMCC and/or MacDonald in breach of the contract, which was partly oral and partly in writing. The management company is seeking damages of $900,000 US, plus interest and court costs." |
