Wednesday, December 25, 2002 8:44:38 AM - Hard Rock opens its vault of memorabilia to the public
(From: Yahoo/AP) ORLANDO, Florida - Hard Rock Cafe International opened its vault of rock n' roll memorabilia to the public, from Bruce Springsteen's leather jacket to B.B. King's guitar. The Hard Rock Vault showcases a portion of the company's 65,000 rock artifacts that rotate among its restaurants, hotels and casinos worldwide. "When you look at the cafes, we've done a good job of showing the memorabilia, but we never get to tell any of the stories behind it," says Chris Tomasso, Hard Rock's vice president of marketing. "That kept coming back to us in what we heard from people. They wanted to know the significance of what they saw."

Visitors to the exhibit enter through a tunnel illuminated by vintage images of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. The hallway leads into the "Hub," the main exhibit hall, which houses Led Zeppelin legend John Bonham's drum set and guitars from Pete Townshend, Steve Cropper and B.B. King. The "Total Immersion Tour" is a guided stroll through several themed rooms, starting in the "Back Alley," a tribute that links punk icons such as the Sex Pistols and Ramones with Nirvana and Courtney Love.

The "Dressing Room" shows off costumes worn by Elton John, Madonna (news - web sites), Gene Simmons, Prince and others. It leads to the "Psychedelic Meltdown," with Jimi Hendrix collectibles. «Post A Comment»

Monday, December 23, 2002 8:17:10 PM - RAMONES Tribure release date

The ever changing release date for the Rob Zombie organized "We're A Happy Family" Ramones tribute seems to have been pushed back to Feb. 11, 2003. This release date has been bouncing like a ping-pong ball, but should be worth the wait, not only for KISS' cover of "Rock And Roll Radio"...

Tuesday, December 17, 2002 12:25:49 PM - NEARLY, The KISS Album Focus...
The printing of the second edition of "The KISS Album Focus" was completed late last week, after a final production glitch. I've just received a couple of sample copies from the printer.

[Foci side by side]
(First and second edition "KISS Album Focus" side by side)

Naturally, I'm very pleased with how the book has turned out and think that the new larger format works really well. To everyone who's preordered from me direct or elsewhere, thanks for your patience with the project running a couple of weeks late! Matters have been beyond my control, but the business side with the printers has been completed so the books will be shipping to the distributors, and myself, hopefully today! It won't be long until you have your copy in your hands! «Post A Comment»

Friday, December 13, 2002 9:23:31 AM - Can you solve the KISS concert mysteries? The authors of KISS Alive Forever need your help....
Even after spending seven years researching their book KISS Alive Forever, some facts have proven to be elusive to its authors, Curt Gooch and Jeff Suhs, and they are seeking your help. If you can correctly solve any of the six KISS Alive Forever mysteries listed below, you will receive two autographed copies of the book, personally signed by the authors, free of charge.

Speaking of autographed copies of KISS Alive Forever, they are once again available at the book's official web site: www.kissaliveforever.com, and if you order before Tuesday, December 17 delivery is guaranteed in time for Christmas.

Here are the mysteries and remember if you can't answer any yourself, you might know someone who can: Good luck!

  1. KISS may have performed in the Washington D.C./Baltimore area on July 21, 1974. If you have any information on this show please contact the authors. KISS most likely were opening for another band.
  2. Who opened KISS's August 9, 1975, Dressed To Kill Tour concert in Albany, New York's Palace Theatre?
  3. Who opened KISS's January 23, 1976, Alive! Tour show in Erie, Pennsylvania's Erie County Fieldhouse?
  4. Who opened KISS's March 12, 1976, Alive! Tour gig in New Orleans, Louisiana at A Warehouse?
  5. Who opened KISS's March 13, 1976, Alive! Tour show in Mobile, Alabama? This concert took place in the Expo Hall at Mobile's Municipal Auditorium.
  6. Who performed with KISS during their last minute Unmasked Tour appearance in Paris' Le Hippodrome de Pantin on October 16, 1980?
If you have any information on these mysteries, please submit your response to the authors at: questions@kissaliveforever.com

For further information on KISS Alive Forever, please visit the official KISS Alive Forever site, where you can read nine excerpts from the manuscript.

Tuesday, December 10, 2002 1:57:10 PM - Eddie Trunk Updates the Ace/KISS Situation...
(From: EddieTrunk.com) "Flooded with people from all over the world asking about the status of Ace and Kiss. As you all know, I am friends with Ace and am a huge Kiss fan and supporter. I do not however have anything to do on any professional level with Kiss or Ace's business. That being said, I asked Ace a few days ago what the deal was with him and the upcoming Kiss tour and Australian show. Simply put, Ace is not a member of the band at this time. He asked that I let the fans know that he has no plans at this time to rejoin the band, and his contract with them ended after the Farewell Tour, which he also thought was the end at the time. Ace is upset that Kiss announces events, and holds press conferences for events, then asks him if he wants to do them after the fact. He claims he was just recently contacted by the band and even told about a tour and concert in Australia. He feels totally left out of the loop and does not believe this is the way a band should function. So as it stands now, Ace does not plan on rejoining Kiss for anything. That being said, we have all seen how things can change with the Kiss camp, but that's where it stands as of now. Ace may be on with us soon to talk about this further, but for now, he is still working on music for a new solo album for next year. I do not wish to judge or debate anything with Kiss, I am just reporting the facts as I have heard them this week from Ace."

And the FAQ rants... Ace has been promising a new album for how many years? Even this year he was saying he'd have one out in the summer, then the fall, now next year. Sounds like the early 1990's all over again. Ace should take note that he has not released an album since 1989 which is extremely disappointing to his fans, especially after the promising material he demoed in 1995. Maybe Ed should ask Ace some specific questions about where he's at recording this album: How many songs he's completed recording, if he's got a record label or had any substantive negotiations with any labels, who's performing on the album? No more "I'm building my multimedia studio" answers. If Mark St. John and Vinnie can put out album(s), Ace certainly can since he's stated that he's got albums worth of material already! «Post A Comment»
