Tuesday, October 12, 2004 5:11:04 PM - 3/4 KISS Perform At Birthday Party
(From KISSOnline/Blabbermouth) Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer played five songs at a surprise birthday party for former Penthouse Pet of the Year Cheryl Rixon Davis last weekend in Hollywood. Stanley was asked by Davis' husband to perform at the party, according to a posting on KISS' web site. Having known Cheryl since the '70s, Paul felt it would be fun and a great surprise. Paul commented, "I had originally been asked to do it with the party band but told them I didn't want to do it without Eric and Tommy. It was awesome and rocked big-time." The Trio played: "All Right Now" (FREE), "Whole Lotta Love" (LED ZEPPELIN), "You Shook Me" (ZEPPELIN version), "Lick It Up" (KISS) and "Comunication Breakdown" (LED ZEPPELIN). Eric added that "Paul and Tommy sounded really good and it was a blast playing with them!"... «Post A Comment»

Sunday, October 03, 2004 7:09:17 AM - Gene Simmons' "Speaking In Tongues" CD Art

(Updated: Sunday, September 19, 2004 4:42:40 AM) "Speaking In Tongues" (Sanctuary CD 06076-84707-2) cover art. The CD will apparently be a spoken word show (according to details posted on the Sanctuary UK website, and elsewhere: "This is a spoken word recording of 2 Gene Simmons speaking engagements."), probably culled from the less-than-successful DVD of the same title. The full track-listing is currently unknown and unpublicized, but the CD could possibly be enhanced with additional material since the DVD included audio-bites of previously unreleased Gene Simmons demos, including: "Rain Keeps Falling" (a 1992 song Gene demoed with the members of Silent Rage), "I Wanna Rule The World," "Granny Takes A Trip," "I Am Yours," "Damn I'm Good," "Every Day Above Ground," and "I Turn To Stone" (songs considered for use on "Psycho Circus"), "Take It Like A Man" (1983-5 demo), "Jelly Roll" and "Rotten To The Core" (1976 demos prior to "Rock And Roll Over"), "Mirage" (which was recorded by Doro in 1990), and "Am I Loosing My Mind," "Penny Arcade," "IT 2," "You Kill Me," "Rock It Hard," "Son Of 7th," "Too Hot Too Cold," and "Into The Void" (Gene had this title for a song as far back as 1974). The original PR for "Speaking In Tongues" indicated: "Additionally, the DVD & CD includes for the first time anywhere, over ten unheard and never-before-released Gene Simmons songs from the seventies through the nineties." Full demos may not be included since Gene is planning on issuing his "100" boxset of unreleased demos. KISSFAQ says, that's another mistake which I'll follow-up with an editiorial at some point.

Release is currently scheduled for October 5, 2004 in the US, and October 4 in the UK (SANCD298). What killer promotion is being done for this release since no indication of what the product contains has been made available in many areas where the product would be purchased; but perhaps soundscan results for "Asshole" and the DVD of "Speaking In Tongues" has killed any budget for that - In the opinion of the KISSFAQ, the "album" will probably not include full unreleased demos, but will feature short clips. Hopefully, they'll not have additional narrative overdubs on them so that the listener can actually hear them... The "Speaking In Tongues" DVD (Sanctuary SVE4009) is scheduled for release in the UK on October 25... «Post A Comment»
