Wednesday, September 27, 2006 17:35:45 PM - Bruce finishes work on ESP CD/DVD...

(From Kulick.net) "Finally finished the mixing and mastering of the ESP 'Live in Japan' CD (featuring the lineup of Kulick on guitar, Eric Singer [KISS, ALICE COOPER] on drums, John Corabi [MÖTLEY CRÜE, RATT] on guitar/vocals and Chuck Garric [ALICE COOPER, DIO] on bass). Sounds great and the 11 tracks chosen rock for sure. It will be for sale starting in October and my page will have a link for ordering. The DVD is on its way to be manufactured as well. I am very excited about finally sharing the excitement of ESP with everyone, not just the countries we seem to visit." «Post A Comment»

Wednesday, September 27, 2006 06:32:12 PM - Paul's "Live To Win" single on iTunes...
Paul's "Live To Win" single is now available on iTunes for $0.99. It's hard to stay away from KISS comparrisons considering Paul's role within that band, but "Live To Win" is solid sonic evidence that Paul can break-out from the confines of his comfortable home. "Live To Win" offers lush textures with the down-tuned guitars dark riffs and keyboard overlays providing a solid atmosphere and modern sound. Since it was co-written with Andreas Carlsson and Desmond Child, the collaboration is nowhere near as scary as it could have been! Paul is obviously working hard to be relevant, rather than relying on the past. His obvious style does shine through, on this and every other song on his excellent album... «Post A Comment»

Friday, September 22, 2006 16:45:22 PM - Gene Simmons' "Family Jewels" Season 1 DVD...
Gene Simmons' "Family Jewels" season 1 DVD is available for pre-order at A&E, HERE. The 2-DVD 285 minute package is scheduled for release on Oct. 6 for $24.95.

DVD Features:
The Rare Pilot Episode, Unseen Couch Interviews, Behind The Makeup Featurettes, Gene's History of Rock and Roll, The Lost Songs, Gene Simmons 24/7, Bloopers, Interactive Menu, and Scene Selection.

Product Detail:
The new real-life A&E family series GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS steps into the home of the legendary, tongue-wagging rocker demon of KISS and Shannon Tweed, former Playmate of the Year, actress, model and mom. Gene and Shannon have been happily UNmarried for 23 years and have no plans to get married anytime soon. And their kids, Nick and Sophie, are surprisingly charming, well-behaved teenagers dealing with the trials and tribulations of adolescence, even though Mom and Dad are like no one else's parents on earth. Yes, Gene is a world-famous rock star and multi-media magnate, but he's also the kind of dad who brings Gatorade to his daughter's soccer games and stands in the front row of his son's rock band when they play gigs.

GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS: THE COMPLETE SEASON 1 reveals a side of Gene that he has kept hidden from the world at large until now, and shows how the most non-traditional family in America manages to make normal life work under the oddest of circumstances. This is the story of a uniquely American family fully unveiled in the original thirteen episodes from the debut season on DVD... «Post A Comment»

Friday, September 22, 2006 05:21:17 AM - Eddie Trunk updates blog on KISS activities...
(From: http://www.eddietrunk.com/blog.php) "Spent last Sunday in Los Angeles shooting an interview with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley for VH1 Classic that will air as a one hour special staring in mid October. I'll get you all the specifics when announced in the TV section. The interview was taped at the old A&M records lot, a very cool studio/building now run by Jim Henson. The entire interview is all based around the upcoming KISSology DVD which comes out on Halloween. I am lucky enough to have an advance of this amazing set and trust me you will be blown away. Some of the stuff has been around as bootlegs, but this is by far the best sound and picture quality. I spoke with Gene and Paul about most of the stuff on the DVDs, it was amazing how clearly they remembered events that took place 30 years ago or longer. Some great stories and insights from them about this amazing DVD set. Again, all the air info when I get it. By the way, the DVD is called KISSology Vol. 1 for a reason! There are more volumes coming next year documenting other moments in the band history.

Off camera Paul told me about his upcoming solo tour and album. The backing band will be the group from Rock Star (the house band) and he plans on doing some really cool, obscure KISS tunes, some never done live. I don't want to blow any secrets but needless to say I put my requests in ("A Million To One" anybody?). Gene filled me in during a lunch break on his many projects and business ventures both Kiss and non-Kiss related. It was a great day and the guys seemed to be in great spirits. My only regret is that we didn't have more time as I had so much stuff I was hoping to get into. We also shot some exclusive interview footage with the guys that will be used for promo use and also shown in movie theaters. There will be a screening of a condensed cut of this DVD in theaters, which should be awesome, that will include some set ups from the guys.

I'll have much more news and DVD giveaways and promotions once we get closer to release"... «Post A Comment»

Saturday, September 16, 2006 12:21:43 PM - Interesting Collector Find...
Paul Stanley announced his 2006 touring band on www.kissonline.com today. The band will feature:
Rafael Moreira (Lead Guitar)
Jim McGorman (Guitar)
Sasha Krivstov (Bass)
Nate Morton (Drums)
Paul Mirkovich (Keyboards)

According to Paul: "From the first time I saw them perform, I knew they were the band that could help deliver the songs for my solo tour with lethal force. Trust me; this is going to be awesome!" (KISS Online). Paul's touring band has already been the house band for the CBS television shows ROCK STAR: INXS and this year's ROCK STAR: SUPERNOVA. In many circles that band got better reviews than the contestants! KISSFAQ has added mini-bios about the individual players on the Paul Solo Album feature page. Tuesday, September 12, 2006 11:12:32 AM - KISS clips on "Hard Rock Treasures" DVD...
"Hard Rock Treasures" will be released via MPI Home Video on October 31, 2006, "a DVD documentary featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of these prized possessions and the stories behind them." KISS is briefly featured with Ace demonstrating his smoking guitar, and Gene and Paul backstage. Check out the trailer: HERE

(From Blabbermouth:) More than three years in the making, "Hard Rock Treasures" documents the journey of Hard Rock's own "Indiana Jones of Rock 'n' Roll" Don Bernstine as he acquires these rare collectibles and meets with some of rock's most celebrated artists in their own element and private settings. From Christie's auction house in London, to Elvis Presley's Graceland, to backstage with KISS, to AEROSMITH's personal warehouse, to a secret recording studio with Jimmy Page at an undisclosed location, to the historic Sun Recording Studios, and a pilgrimage to Norman's Rare Guitars (the renowned L.A. vintage guitar shop that boasts an A-list clientele) with BON JOVI's Richie Sambora, "Hard Rock Treasures" highlights loads of other extraordinary moments with rock 'n' roll royalty, as they share their personal stories and donate these prized possessions to take their rightful place among Hard Rock's prestigious collection, often referred to as "The Smithsonian of Rock 'n' Roll"... «Post A Comment»

Monday, September 11, 2006 11:38:23 PM - "Millennium Collection - 20th Century Masters, Vol. 3" Details...
KISS Online has unveiled the track-listing for "Millennium Collection - 20th Century Masters, Vol. 3!" due for release from Universal Music on 10/10:

God Gave Rock And Roll To You II
Unholy
Domino (Alive III)
Hate
Childhood's End
I Will Be There
Comin
Home (MTV Unplugged)
Got To Chose (MTV Unplugged)
Psycho Circus
Into The Void
I Pledge Allegiance To The State Of Rock And Roll
Nothing Can Keep Me From You

OK, there’s nothing new on here, but the package will be cheap, so those who didn't bother buying the "Box Set" or "DRC" can have "Got To Choose" and "Nothing Can Keep Me From You." This release also breaks the mould of the previous volumes which featured material that was predominantly single/video supported. It includes oddities such as "Hate" and "Childhood Ends" off "Carnival Of Souls" instead of the singles: "Jungle" and "Master And Slave," though "Hate" was considered for release as a single at one point. Additionally, "Shout It Out Loud" (1996 Live) version is ommited. As "Greatest KISS" is now deleted from the US catalog the only source for this recording is the "Box Set." Oh well. «Post A Comment»

Saturday, September 09, 2006 3:34:23 PM - Paul Stanley going to Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp!
The next Rock 'N Roll Fantasy Camp (RRFC) will take place in Los Angeles (Feb. 15-19, Presidents Day weekend) and will feature Paul Stanley (KISS), Mickey Hart (GRATEFUL DEAD), Bret Michaels (POISON), Steve Vai, Jane Wiedlin (GO GOS), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX) and many more.

RRFC is more than jamming, recording and performing live with rock stars. In the words of recent attendees, it's "mind-blowing," "unforgettable" and "a life-changing experience." Over the last few years, Rock 'N Roll Fantasy Camp has drawn hundreds of people who have skipped out on their day jobs to seek a little bit of rock 'n roll nirvana, among them White House press secretary Tony Snow, who attended at recent edition of RRFC. RRFC also designs and organizes team building events and training programs for corporations.

Saturday, September 09, 2006 11:22:12 AM - New Japanese book cool look at collectible merchandise!
New (well, OK, it came out a couple of months ago, but I finally got a copy) Japanese book "Rock Goods Collection" details numerous KISS collectibles and merchandise.

Almost a Japanese language version of KISSTory II, this book is a pictorial guide to KISS merchandise 1976-2006! It's text-lite, so non-Japanese readers shouldn’t be put off, and is printed with ink nearly as powerful as KISStory (Keep away from kids, pets, LOL - JK). The book is also nicely layed out. Aparently the first edition for domestic publication came with an obi with a separate edition being available for export. The book (ISBN4-8124-2570-0) is 210 pages in 7.25x10? format. Published by at-bucks.com but readily available on Ebay (shudder)... «Post A Comment»

Issues & questions: Is the glass half-empty or half-full?
- "Acrobat" - Is that from the 8mm silent footage synched to audio, or another source?
- "Deuce" still missing from ABC's "In Concert." That's a shame!
- Are the issues during "Deuce" and does "Let Me Go, Rock 'N Roll" cut?
- No "Deuce" and "C'mon And Love Me" from the "Midnight Special." That's a shame!
- No "Detroit Rock City" and "Beth" from Paul Lynde... Bummer.
- "Deuce" from the Coventry as a hidden track. Hope it's easy to find!

Still, should be interesting!... «Post A Comment»

Thursday, September 07, 2006 14:34:29 PM - New KISS DVD package rumors...
NOTE: RUMOR NOT FACT - THERE'S A DIFFERENCE! THIS NEWS ITEM IS A COMPILATION OF WHAT IS CURRENTLY BEING DISCUSSED IN VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS. IT MAY COME TRUE, IT MAY NOT, OR THINGS MAY BE CHANGED. OR NOT. CHECK KISSONLINE FOR OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED NEWS.

Rumors currently surround the so-called KISS Vault DVD which has yet to have any official announcement, apart from a few brief confirmations: Gene commenting on KISS Online's Ask Gene feature, "Can't talk about the new KISS DVD series, except to say it will be a MONSTER. News soon." Tommy's also commented, "I've been helping out with a fabulous new KISS DVD coming out this fall" on KISS Online. The 2006 Cincinnati KISS EXPO on October 1 should be a good start if KISS Online does indeed "celebrate the upcoming release of Paul Stanley's new LIVE TO WIN CD as well as the new KISS DVD Series..."

One source (BDB) has suggested that the first volume of the archival DVD will be titled, "KISSOLOGY 1974-1977," and contain some six hours of contents. Legendary concerts from San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom (1/31/75), Detroit's Cobo Hall (1/26/76), Tokyo's Budokan Hall (4/2/77), and the Summit in Houston, TX (9/2/7) will be featured remastered in 5.1 audio. These represent the Dressed To Kill, Alive!, Rock And Roll Over/Sneak Attack, and Love Gun tours.

That same source suggests that those concerts will be supplemented by cuts from Long Beach, CA (1974), ABC's "In Concert" (1974), The Mike Douglas Show (1974), NBC's "Midnight Special" (1975), the The Paul Lynde Halloween ‘76 Special, and Don Kirshner's "Rock Concert" (1976). Additional features will be the music videos for "C'mon And Love Me" and "Rock And All Nite" from 1975, and British TV Show "So It Goes" filmed in Manchester on the 1976 European tour.

Perhaps most notable for inclusion are special DVD "Easter Eggs" (hidden features) which will feature "Deuce" from the Coventry (12/73) and parts of KISS brief unmasked performance at Ace Frehley's May 1976 wedding. The Coventry video from December 1973 has previously been mentioned for release on its own. However, it is apparently less than impressive (apart from the historical value) as a single camera angle from the back of the room.

KISS are apparently working via Viacom (CF) for this package which is apparently scheduled for release on 10/31/06. Several stores stocking the package may be offering bonus DVDs, as has become common practice. Some titles mentioned for bonus package inclusion are parts of Detroit's Cobo Hall (1/25/76), Madison Square Garden (2/18/77) and Landover, MD (12/20/77) which represent the "Rock And Roll Over" and "Alive II" Tours. It's also possible

This information raises interesting questions. If the release date was/is 10/31, then is there enough time for promotion, and if so, why hasn't anything official leaked yet. Also, wouldn't a 10/31 date compete with Paul's album release date - not all fans have readily disposeable incomes. Then the small matter of editing. Has anything been done to the shows, such as cuts, edits, or other changes. Ah, so many questions. Time will tell!... «Post A Comment»

Tuesday, September 05, 2006 12:50:08 PM - Alive! 4-CD Box Set...
According to Universal, the Alive! (UPC 602517069046) 4-CD box set is scheduled for release on 11/14/06. That it is a "4-CD" box does not help clarify the contents, though it's been rumored to include the previously unfinished/unreleased originals-era "Alive IV"... «Post A Comment»

Tuesday, September 05, 2006 12:50:08 PM - Millennium Collection - 20th Century Masters, Vol. 3!
Well, we've nearly made it through 2006 without another KISS compilation. However, Island/Universal will be releasing "Millennium Collection - 20th Century Masters, Vol. 3"? on October 10. I've yet to be able to firm up any further details, more, if and when. Volume 1 covered 1974-9 with one live track; Volume 2 covered 1982-1989. In nearly every case, the tracks included were single releases or promoted by videos, with "Creatures Of The Night" being the exception. Thus, it's probably not too much of a stretch to suggest that the contents of Volume 3 will cover the 1991-9 period... «Post A Comment»

Tuesday, September 05, 2006 10:33:51 AM - "Krazy Killer" DVD due for release 10/31...

Another unsanctioned DVD is due for release on Oct. 31. "Krazy Killer includes exclusive home video footage of Gene and Paul with their lawyers and police storming the DETROIT KISS KONVENTION on July 17th 1994. They raided the KISS museum and took back all their old KISS KOSTUMES and boots which they claim were stolen from their New York warehouse. Afterwards, the Q&A session turns into pure chaotic mayhem and the crowd goes totally insane!! Also featured are several different Detroit news clips from local TV stations covering the events at the KONVENTION that day, followed by an interview with Gene on the tribute album."... «Post A Comment»

Friday, September 1, 2006 06:21:07 AM - Release round-up...
"KISS Animalize Live Uncensored" was released in the UK, via Magnum distribution (DVDS-002) on May 10. Amusingly, the "Alive IV - Symphony" CD titles (ths is worthy of a fuller discussion considering some current industry rumors!) appear to now deleted from Sanctuary's UK catalog with only the DVD remaining available. It's still available via Zomba in some European markets, having been re-issued on 7/7/06!

An international version of "Extreme Close-Up/Konfidential" is due for release via Mercury (9840752). This apparently comes in a slip-case, but details are yet to be confirmed... «Post A Comment»

Thursday, August 31, 2006 12:34:23 PM - KISS to tour with Queen in 2007?
Gene has apparently suggested on the Dudley & Bob morning show (KLBJ - Austin TX) that KISS and Queen w/ Paul Rodgers will be teaming up for a tour next year. Queen are apparently currently planning on doing some studio recordings with Paul (Gene, take a hint!). This is neither verified nor absolute - Gene's reality may not come to become our reality.

Queen and KISS shared a dark month in November 1991 with the passing of both Freddie Mercury and Eric Carr... «Post A Comment»

Thursday, August 31, 2006 12:34:23 PM - "Jumpin' Gene Simmons" dies...
There's several artists who share similar names: Gene Simmons, Jean Simmons, and "Jumpin' Gene Simmons."

Long before there was a "Demon" there was the rockabilly Jumpin' version of "Gene Simmons" who recorded at Sam Phillips' legendary Sun label, home to the likes of Elvie, Jerry Lewis, Johnny Cash, and so many others. "Jumpin' Gene Simmons" died on Wednesday. He had a #11 hit in 1964 with "Haunted House."

Other songs he recorded also caused confusion in KISS-fan circles for years. Many thought "Ring Dang Do" was a "Demon" demo. It wasn't, it was the other guy. RIP... «Post A Comment»
