This week the album dropped off the US Top-200 charts reportedly scanning under 6,000 units. The album also dropped to 90 on the Swiss charts and completely off the Swedish charts. KISS' "Millenium" collection managed to chart for three weeks in Canada, debuting at #81, dropping to #102, and rising to #100 this week... «Post A Comment»

Monday, August 18, 2003 8:08:27 AM - KISS: "Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame" Induction Online Petition
Let's face it, KISS have seldom received the kudos they deserve. With their mega-stardom of the 1970s they solidified their position in American pop culture. While the band may not care about platitudes and recognition fans certainly do. There is an online petition to get the band nominated for the "Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame".

Monday, August 18, 2003 7:32:47 AM - Tour: Indianapolis Review
(From IndyStar): "In a highly anticipated clash of hard-rock titans, the big dumb fun of Kiss trumped the sustained relevance of Aerosmith on Sunday night at Verizon Wireless Music Center. The outcome may have surprised some in the audience of 22,110. After all, Aerosmith makes hit records decade after decade, while Kiss lost such ability or luck back in the 1980s". Thursday, August 14, 2003 8:15:44 AM - Tour: Cincinnati Review
(From Cincinnati Enquirer): "Maybe it was Kiss who brought out the best in Aerosmith at Riverbend Wednesday night. Or maybe Aerosmith just didn't have enough time to do 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing'.
Whatever the case, Aerosmith put on its finest Cincinnati performance in several years. The band kept newer schmaltzy material to a minimum. The set was streamlined, played on a bare-bones stage that was the perfect tonic after Kiss' bombastic act". Read the whole review, HERE... «Post A Comment»

Thursday, August 14, 2003 5:20:56 AM - Tour: Cincinnati, OH Set List...

Let Me Go, Rock 'N Roll
I Love It Loud
Firehouse
God Of Thunder
100,000 Years

So, things get moved around in the set, but no further song substitutions for the last couple of shows. Hope they pull some stuff like "Take Me", "Calling Dr. Love", "Nothin' To Lose", and "I Stole Your Love" into the sets at some point or otherwise, IMO, it'll get pretty damned stagnent - "I Stole Your Love" would be a good counter to the Aero "Rocks" material... «Post A Comment»

Monday, August 04, 2003 9:44:44 AM - The "Alive IV" debate
(From MelodicRock.com) MelodicRock has posted the following, somewhat ignorant piece:
"SANCTUARY RECORDS GUILTY OF OVER HYPE:
A week or so back, Sanctuary Records put out a Press Release stating Kiss Alive IV had gone Gold. Well, not officially, as their record label were laying on the hype big time, by cleverly stating that the album had shipped Gold. Not the same as selling Gold! Their press release:
"Sanctuary Records Group is proud to announce that legendary rock icons KISS add another GOLD record to their lead as the RIAA title holder for No. 1 American group GOLD RECORD champions of all time. The debut album from KISS Records/Sanctuary Records, KISS Symphony Alive IV has shipped GOLD, prior to the upcoming release date of July 22." The label may be forced to issue a new press statement, as Alive IV entered the US Billboard Top 200 last week at #18, with 41,000 units sold. 459,000 short of the 500,000 shipped."

With respect to the people who run that website, I'd have expected that they could tell the difference between what the Sanctuary Press Release stated and reality. Of course it was hype, welcome to "Marketing 101". "Shipped Gold" sounds good, doesn't it? It doesn't explicity suggest that the album has been certified. Furthermore, with 41,000 units sold, only 209,000 copies need to still be sold for Gold certification since the album is a double-CD. Shipped Gold simply is a nicer way of stating that they shipped 250,000 copies of the album. 10,000 were vinyl LPs and 50,000 were the digipacks. Oh, and 41,000 is only the figure reported by Soundscan... «Post A Comment»

Friday, August 01, 2003 10:45:24 AM - Ace Frehley Fine Without KISS
(From Billboard) "With Kiss nearing the launch of its co-headlining trek with Aerosmith, the band's former guitarist, Ace Frehley, wants to make certain that fans know he won't be a part of the tour, and that he's hard at work on his next solo record.
In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Frehley says he will not be hitting the road for two reasons: In 2001, when Kiss finished its Farewell tour, he says he was told by bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley that the jaunt would be the band's last. And, as a result, at the end of that tour, he began planning and working on his seventh, as-yet-untitled, solo record, which he didn't want to delay for another nostalgia-focused tour with Kiss."

Gee, it's like the early 1990's all over again. KISS v. Ace, and his ever forthcoming new studio album and control of his life. Actions not words Ace, talk is cheap. Read the whole article, HERE... «Post A Comment»

Friday, August 01, 2003 10:45:24 AM - KISS Detroit Expo Update
(From kissdetroitexpo)
Sunday, August 10, 2003 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Double Tree Hotel
31500 Wick Rd.
Romulus, MI 48174
I-94/Merriman Exit near the Detroit Metro Airport

The 10th Annual Detroit KISS Expo is only 9 days away—next Sunday, August 10th. This is expected to be the biggest KISS Detroit Expo in years, so be sure to contact the Double Tree hotel, (734) 467-8000, for your accommodations now. Ask for the special KISS Expo rate. Dealers still interested in securing a table at the convention, please contact Joe Marshall at PhotoJoes@aol.com or (734) 658-5477, ASAP. All dealers welcome.

Long time Detroit Expo promoter Joe Marshall has blitzed the Detroit media with promotion, as radio ads are running on a near hourly basis, with heavy local print coverage as well. Detroit station 106.7 The Drive will be broadcasting live from the expo throughout the day, and will be giving away a pair of tickets for the sold out KISS/Aerosmith show at Comerica Park on Friday, August 15. Last year's event drew over 400 people with nearly no promotion, and that number is expected to more than double for this year's event, due to the expo's heavy promotion and the hype surrounding the upcoming Comerica Park concert.

If you're tired of the same guests appearing at every KISS convention over and over, then this expo is the cure. The 10th Annual Detroit KISS Expo features a totally fresh roster of guests and attractions:
- How would you like to finally see the breathtaking video of the December 1977 Alive II show from Largo, Maryland, or see the only live footage of Paul Stanley wearing his rare Bandit make-up?
- JUST ADDED: Maybe incredibly rare KISS audio is your thing. Live concert soundboards from KISS's June 1973 appearances at The Daisy will be featured, as will an August 1973 rehearsal at Le Tang's Ballet Studio in NY. And a 1973 recording of the often discussed but never heard KISS song "Life In The Woods" will be a major highlight.
- KISS Alive Forever authors Curt Gooch and Jeff Suhs will be hosting the Detroit premier of all the aforementioned audio and video displays and their half hour KISS Alive Forever Promo Film. The authors will be doing a Q & A session, and will be selling and signing copies of their landmark book.
[This will be the final public broadcast of the KISS Alive Forever Promo Film, and recording the audio/video portions of their appearance will not be allowed. The promo film will not be sold or released EVER, so if you want to see it, be sure to attend the Detroit Expo, it's now or never.]
- Jay "Hot Sam" Barth and Chuck Elias, KISS road crew members from 1974-79 will be making their first KISS Expo appearances and are sure to share some jaw-dropping behind the scenes stories of life on the road with KISS in the 1970s.
- JUST ADDED: As a special exclusive, Warner Books has donated 50 mylar promo posters for the forthcoming official KISS bio, KISS: Behind the Mask. This 20" x 26" poster is a gorgeous promotional item that harkens back to the vintage KISS mylar posters of the '70s, and they will be given away to the first 50 people in line. Promo flats for KISS Alive Forever, will also be given away at the door.
— In keeping with the vintage KISS era theme, the Expo will feature a comprehensive 1975-76 Alive! era museum, including all four original members costumes, vintage posters, Peter Criss's 1975 drum kit and more.
- Detroit's own KISS tribute band, War Machine will be performing.
- A KISS look-a-like contest.
- More guests and events to be announced.

Tickets are only $12 in advance via Ticketmaster (248) 645-6666 or through www.ticketmaster.com.

For more information, call the Detroit Expo Hotline at: (734) 658-KISS {5477} or visit the Expo web site at: kissdetroitexpo... «Post A Comment»
