Sunday, June 18, 2006 10:51:40 AM - Another New Pro-Video Surfaces
In a rather sad fact of reality, while KISS sit on their archives, yet another professionally filmed show from the 1970s surfaced this weekend, Detroit Cobo Hall, Jan. 29, 1977.

With the original 3/4 master recently having been sold, the incomplete show features the majority of a set from the "Rock And Roll Over" tour: "Detroit Rock City," "Take Me," "Let Me Go, Rock And Roll," "Ladies Room," "Firehouse," "Makin' Love," "I Want You," "Cold Gin," "Ace Guitar Solo," "Do You Love Me?" "Nothin' To Lose," "Gene solo," "God Of Thunder," "Peter Drum Solo," "Rock And Roll All Nite." Missing are the show encores and the band intro and part of "Detroit Rock City." Still, this is one of the most exciting video finds in years. Collectors now have pro-shot videos from most of the original line-up tours. Now, for Winterland '74 to surface since you can be sure it DID get copied from the archives. The KISSFAQ can't tell you where to get this, or any other, unofficial video, but would plead that you don't put money into the hands of bootleggers... «Post A Comment»

Thursday, June 15, 2006 3:17:26 PM - New "Old" Gene Simmons Demo Samples

Last week KISSFAQ mentioned two "new" old Gene demos, from the 1988-90 period, that had surfaced. Now we can bring you samples of some of the material off the master reel:

1. Street Legal (Intro Mix 1)
2. Street Legal (Mix 2)
3. Something Wicked This Way Comes

Lyrics - Street Legal
Yeah, yeah

[Verse]
Down at the corner, underneath the light
You can find the action any time of night
Uh, good looking women and a switch-blade knife
Anything goes, and that's alright, yeah

[Verse]
She could be seventeen or twenty-three
There's just so much that she'll let you see
Razors in her pocket, and razors in her eyes
If I said I wasn't crazy 'bout her that would be a lie, yeah

[Chorus]
(Street Legal) Stripped through my soul
(Street Legal) Out of control
(Street Legal) Baby, I can see
I don't care how old you are...
You're old enough for me
Old enough for me

[Verse]
She's got a danger in her attitude
She looks so fine and it feels so good
Hotter than a furnace, sweeter than a wine
She's gonna use her body to blow your mind

[Chorus]
(Street Legal) Stripped to my soul
(Street Legal) I can't let you go
(Street Legal) Baby, I can see
I don't care how old you are...
You're old enough for me

[Break]
So fine, too cool, baby I don't want to be your fool
Too much, no rules, I wanna meet you after school

[Guitar Solo]

Yeah, yeah

[Verse]
Down at the corner, underneath the light
You can find the action any time of night
Uh, good looking women and a switch-blade knife
Anything goes, and that's alright, yeah

(Street Legal) Stripped to my soul
(Street Legal) I can't let you go
(Street Legal) You outta know
Baby, better listen 'cause I can't say
No, (no, no) no, no, no, no, no
(Street Legal) No, no, no
(Street Legal)
(Street Legal) Baby, I can see
I don't care how old you are...
You're old enough for me
(Street Legal) Yeah, yeah, yeah
(Street Legal) You're old enough for me
(Street Legal) You're old enough, old enough for me now
(Street Legal)

Lyrics - Something Wicked This Way Comes
[Verse]
Every night I have the strangest feelin'
I ain't in my bed...
And every night I have the strangest dreams
Runnin' through my head...
It's always the same, but I can't explain
I'm feeling no pain, then I'm alone again

She pulls the trigger, but I'm the bullet
Comin' out of the gun
[Chorus]
Something wicked this way comes (oooh-ooooh)
Something wicked this way comes (oooh-ooooh)

[Verse]
Darkness came and I gave my heart again
And that's forever...
But it was love and pain, but I'll never be the same
But I can't surrender...
Don't know what it is, I'm feelin' stranger and stranger
She lives in my dreams and I am feelin' danger

I'm feelin' cold, somebody help me
'Cause she stole my heart forever

[Chorus]
Something wicked this way comes (oooh-ooooh)
Something wicked this way comes (oooh-ooooh)

[Break]
Somebody help me...
Make it throught the night...
Somebody save me...
'Cause somethin' ain't right
No...
Things ain't what they seem...
And I can't wake up from this dream...

[Guitar Solo]

Whoa-whoa...
Whoa-whoa...
Something wicked this way comes (oooh-ooooh)
Whoa-whoa...
Whoa-whoa...
Whoa-whoa...
Whoa-whoa...
Whoa-whoa...
Whoa-whoa...

Thursday, June 08, 2006 5:14:26 AM - New "Old" Gene Simmons Demos Surface?
Two new "old" Gene Simmons demos have hopefully surfaced. "Street Legal" and "Something Wicked (This Way Comes)" probably date from the 1988-90 period and were recorded at Artisan Sound in Hollywood. "Something Wicked (This Way Comes)" was the title of a 1962 Ray Bradbury gothic novel that was made into a movie in 1983. The song was also recorded by Doro Pesch for her 1990 self-titled solo album that was produced by Gene featuring musical contributions by Tommy Thayer and Kevin Valentine. It's currently unknown whether these can be recovered, or are even contained on, the 1/4" reel. Fingers crossed... «Post A Comment»

Thursday, June 08, 2006 5:14:26 AM - KISS DVD Releases Coming...

Two unofficial (running lengths 59 and 53 minutes respectively) and unsanctioned interview/public domain type DVDs are scheduled for release on July 18 titled "Satanik Kreatures Interviews" and "Asylum of Death Interviews." "Satanic Kreatures" features part of the "Tom Snyder Tomorrow Show" from 1979; "Asylum Of Death" features the Mike Douglas interview and features from the Dynasty tour. However, full specific contents is not currently known for either title so they may simply be repackaging of previous releases. According to CD Universe: "Petal Productions [Ed. The company releasing the DVDs] has sourced the content of this program from various private collectors, including fans and enthusiasts. This material is presented for the first time ever in a DVD format and is an essential item to complete your current music collection. The archive footage here shows a variety of previously unavailable behind the scenes material, reflecting many serious as well as humorous perspectives. For true fans, these insights show another side of the music that we all know and love. Every effort has been made to provide the highest possible picture and sound quality allowing for the availability of the original masters." However, "true fans" auctually know that many times unofficial video releases are often garbage.

A CD titled "Ace Gene Peter & Paul" (Lilith 117) is also scheduled for release that day. It is a licensed Russian repackaging of the four 1978 solo albums.

An official DVD, "Lick It Up - The Definitive DVD" (Island/Mercury ISL007104), has been suggested for release in August. Currently nothing is known about that, though hopefully some details will be available soon. As a side note Universal is releasing a "Definitive DVD" from Extreme in June - that release includes videos, bonus format videos, and live cuts - this may point to what may (but again IS NOT CONFIRMED) for inclusion on a KISS release... «Post A Comment»

Tuesday, June 06, 2006 12:13:44 PM - Another Lydia Criss "Sealed With A KISS" update...

(From LydiaCriss.com:) "I'm happy to report that my autobiography Sealed With A KISS will be available in late summer 2006 exclusively through my Web site. The book measures 10 inches by 12 inches and contains over 350 pages. The 125,000-word manuscript is already finished and the graphic-rich layout is nearly completed.

It has always been very important to me to listen to fans’ requests, and throughout the course of developing my story, I’ve kept their desires in mind. The result is that the book contains more than 1,500 never-before-published images, most of which are captioned with the exact date and location of where/when they were taken.

Sealed With A KISS is divided into three sections, each covering a particular era of my life:
* Section I: July 3, 1966 (the day I first met Peter) - 1973. Six chapters.
* Section II: 1974 - 1979. Thirteen chapters.
* Section III: 1980 - Present. Four chapters"... «Post A Comment»
