Monday, May 30, 2005 5:34:41 AM - PAUL STANLEY Takes Part In Donation Of Instruments To Support Music Education...
(From Blabbermouth/) "On March 22, 2005, KISS frontman Paul Stanley presented several Hazelton brand band and orchestra instruments to the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. As an endorsee of one of SMC's (Samick Music Corp.) instrument brand, Silvertone, Stanley wanted to take part in the donation of another SMC's brands instrument, Hazelton, for placement in schools that are in need of assistance with continuing music programs. Stanley was instrumental in bringing SMC together with the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. Stanley said, "School music programs, exemplified by the work of Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, give young people at risk a road that can lead them away from the problems and temptations that surround and beckon daily, giving them a chance to avoid the roads that at best, lead nowhere. Knowing firsthand what music can make possible, I fully support these efforts."

The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation's purpose, as stated on their web site, is to "support music education and its many benefits through the donation of new and refurbished musical instruments to underserved school and community music programs and individual students nationwide.

Check out a photo of Stanley with the donated instruments at Paul Stanley's Paradise"... «Post A Comment»

Thursday, May 26, 2005 4:27:33 PM - Darth Maul - Maul Stanley...

"He's not Darth Maul. He's not Paul Stanley.

But he is the Phantom Menace of the Park and he embodies the worst of both worlds.

Maul Stanley is the unlikely new anti-hero who combines the spirit of the Starchild with the essence of the Sith, spiked with a dash of dark humor. Drawing inspiration from both the Star Wars movies and the rock band Kiss, the so-called Sithchild is a seasoned improvisational entertainer whose knowledge of both is second to none. As excitement builds toward the impending release of the sixth and final Star Wars movie "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," Maul Stanley has at last revealed himself by launching his very own website, MaulStanley.com.

In his debut online adventure, Maul Stanley inflicts his rock & roll irreverence upon the world's biggest Star Wars convention! Encountering all manner of otherworldly oddities, from Stormtroopers to Droids to Wookiees, the mysterious malevolence that is Maul Stanley mixes the dark side of rock & roll with the Dark Side of the Force. No one is safe as he hurls his hard rock humor upon an unsuspecting population, belting out such song parodies as "Maul Hell's Breakin' Loose," "Tossin' & Turnin' to the Dark Side" and "Jedi Love It Loud."

Recently Maul Stanley received a bit of exposure on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and in the Triumph the Insult Comic Dog DVD. He also appeared in the VH1 special "When STAR WARS Ruled the World." Future plans include a series of interviews with hard rock heroes as well as hosting an upcoming Star Wars documentary. Maul Stanley is about to descend upon the realms of both sci-fi and rock & roll in a big way, heralded by the ominous whisper...

Further information about Maul Stanley can be found at his website, which launched this past Friday the 13th."

Light-hearted entertainment, "Not since Liberace has a man in red spandex, make-up and a cape been so entertaining!" Maul Stanley blends KISS & Star Wars together to create the "Sithchild." You've got Maul... Check the website, here... «Post A Comment»

Saturday, May 07, 2005 7:22:28 AM - KISSNATION's "Axe" bass stolen...
(From: Carlos Espada) "Calling on the KISS ARMY for HELP!
Greetings all,
My name is Carlos Espada, bassist for KISS tribute band, New York City's KISSNATION. Recently my Axe bass was stolen from The New Jersey area. This particular bass is unique because I built it myself, from the ground up. It looks exactly like The Gene Simmons Axe Bass, with just a couple of unique features. The blade is somewhat rounder on my bass and there is only one master volume knob, whereas the Gene Simmons Axe has two.

I built the bass by hand and it has been with me for almost 4 years. I cannot begin to express how much this bass means to me, but I'm sure that fellow KISS fans and especially fellow musicians can empathize.

About the bass:
It has a bolt on neck.
It has a blank head stock with a crack on the top right side of the head.
The blade of the bass is chipped on the back end of the blade.
It has one master volume knob.
It was in a black gig bag when it was stolen.

I'm including some pictures in this post in hopes that someone within the KISS fan community might come forward with any information about my axe's whereabouts. It is my belief that it was most likely stolen and pawned, but I believe that somehow it will work its way back into the KISS community.

To anyone who has any knowledge of my bass' whereabouts, any information would be dearly appreciated. To whoever has current possession of my bass, I will offer a reward for its return. No questions asked.

Please contact me via e-mail at: cespada905@yahoo.com

Thank you,
Carlos Espada

Monday, May 02, 2005 3:36:50 AM - Gene an "Idiot"?
(From: Contact Music) "KISS bassist GENE SIMMONS is teaching children how to rock in an upcoming British TV series - and network bosses are so thrilled with the concept they have already commissioned a second run. ROCK SCHOOL, which is set to be screened on CHANNEL 4, sees the ANIMALIZE star training young classical music students in the wild ways of rock and roll - culminating in the 13-year-olds opening a show for rock band MOTORHEAD. But even though the future looks bright for the show, Simmons is not popular with everyone. Channel 4's entertainment mogul ANDREW NEWMAN says, "If I was to say Gene Simmons wasn't an idiot, I'd be lying"... «Post A Comment»
