Ken Barnes "Listen Up" recently had a blog post
(http://blogs.usatoday.com/listenup/2007/02/sales_questions.html#more) concerning KISS' sound scan figures. KISSFAQ has
applied this data to previous listings of KISS' soundscans from March 2006 and earlier. Millenium Best Of Volume 1 best
selling KISS album March 2006-Feb 2007 with 118,000 SoundScans. Best selling studio non-compilation album is Destroyer
with 12,000 scans. Crazy Nights second with 11,000 scanned which really has me scratching my head. Possible typo? Maybe,
but between Oct. ‘03 and March ‘06 the album had only scanned 6,000 copies which would indicate issues (either issues
with the stats or mental issues with shoppers).
All told figures indicate KISS scanned roughly 309,000 albums in the last year, excluding the more current compliations
and repackagings. As far as solo albums… The last soundscan figures I had were from Oct. 2003. Since then Ace's has
scanned nearly 8,500 copies. Paul's is a distant second at 5,800; then Peter's at 3,100; and finally Gene's at 2,800.
