Tuesday, January 22, 2002 6:03:00 AM - Gene at NAPTE?
When one of the biggest names attending the TV industry's annual shindig here is KISS frontman Gene Simmons, you know that
Hollywood has a problem.
The annual NATPE convention, where hopeful producers spare no expense and decorum to pitch their programs to television
station managers from around the world, got off to a subdued start Monday.
<SNIP>
KISS' Simmons, a tireless promoter of his band and its merchandise, was scheduled to appear Tuesday to tout an animated
show based on his troupe. He may bump into Dr. Phil McGraw, the host of an upcoming talk show next fall, who will stop in
for the day to glad-hand with station managers.

Wednesday, January 09, 2002 1:32:05 PM - New Vinnie Vincent Release?

Seems that Vinnie Vincent may finally have managed to have "Speedball Jam" released following the numerous delays the
release suffered throughout 2001 when it was originally expected. If an official release then the album marks Vinnie's
first release since 1995's "EP/Euphoria", though the album doesn't contain any new music. "Speedball Jam" was the title
of a Vinnie Invasion instrumental which was recorded live in the studio and played live on occasion. It is not clear
what the album entails, though the CD would seem to contain what was described in a "Vinnie Vincent Archives" update in
1998, "a 50 minute Vinnie Vincent rehearsal Jam Session from 1986. It features 'Speedball', a Vinnie Vincent instrumental
played only on tour from 86-88" (PR). RAM Music is offering the CD as "In Stock" @ $34.99 as
a Limited Edition. «Post A Comment»
Monday, January 07, 2002 8:53:54 PM - KISS In For Another Court Case?
Seems that someone forgot to do their homework with the Eric Carr "Ain't That Peculiar" demo on the KISS Box Set. The song, as pointed out on
the Asylum BB, is really a metal cover of Marvin Gaye's (hear it) song of the same title, which would not be too surprising with
Eric's R&B musical background and the sort of songs his 1970's bands were covering. While some lyrics are changed,
slighlty (as Ace did with his demo cover of Burt Bacharach "Baby, It's You"), the rest of the song is a definate match
for the song written by William "Smokey" Robinson/Marvin Tarplin/Robert Rogers/Warren Moore. The song reached #8 on the
US singles charts in 1965. Check it out, HERE. «Post A Comment»
