What I do know is that the tour didn't last long...

Mark, Dana and Bobby left the band during the tour.

The date of the Toronto gig at Rock & Roll Heaven was 880720. This show was captured on video. I saw this and Ottawa. Peter & Ace's old tour manager George Sewitt was running this tour - he was a real prick at times.

- Vinnie was the headliner on the event's "Rock Stage."

July 7 - Vic Theater, Chicago, IL

Notes:
- Steve Riley recalled, "We were on tour with him and the first fucking date – I had to go in the room with Phil and Vinnie and his people, and they read us the riot act on what we can and can't do. And it was the wrong fucking move, because we were doing great at the time... it was the wrong approach to take with us, to read the riot act on what we can and can;t do, because we weren't assholes anyway, we weren't gonna take over the show, we were just gonna open up for them. But it started off really bad that way" (RockEyez, 1/2008).

July 8 - Nashville North, Taylorville, IL (Taped)
Other act(s): LA Guns & Tuff Luck

July 9 - Harpo's, Detroit, MI (Taped)
Other act(s): LA Guns
Notes:
- Vinnie's guitar tech Bill Temple recounted getting attacked by members of the band after a show. They apparently felt that they were co-headlining with Vinnie and didn't appreciate their equipment being moved by Bill while sound-checking, which quickly escalated into what became the final straw. The question of a co-headlining status was exacerbated by the logistical challenges of playing smaller venues. Those locales meant that stage space was in many cases limited. LA Guns drummer Steve Riley wanted to use the drum riser, but that was not possible due to the amount of time it would have taken to tear his kit down and then reassemble Bobby's for the perceived headliner's set.
- LA Guns road manager Corky Gunn recalled, "When L.A Guns played Harpo's opening for Vinnie Vincent. It was the third and last show we did with him. The tour was supposed to be like 2 months. Mick Cripps and Kelly Nickels beat up half the road crew. L.A Guns had been messed with since the tour started... L.A Guns had power outages in the middle of the set, equipment missing, no stage room, strike the drum riser, all kinds of stuff pulled. Everyone was pissed. We were all miserable and wanted out of the tour. After the show we were in the bus outside Harpo's, as Vinnie's crew loaded out. Kelly was in the front of the bus with me, watching out the front window and every time Vinnie's guy walked out, he was mouthing shit back and forth with Kelly. 'Fuck you,' type of suggestions. When the guy walked out and told Kelly to 'blow him' making the blow me motion, Kelly pushed me out the door onto my back and jumped onto the back of Vinnie's truck. Kelly's leg was still messed up from his motorcycle accident, but he didn't care. He was gonna kick some ass! Mick followed him out the door, and I had to go make sure my guys didn't get hurt. Or hurt anyone else too bad! So, they were having a huge brawl in the back of Vinnie's equipment truck, beating on Vinnie roadies, because Vinnie wouldn't come out of his bus, so the crew took the beatdown... Needless to say, we were thrown off that tour (Metal Sludge, 7/26/05).

Notes:
- Some early ads note the venue as Stage West.

August 24 - The Palace, Hollywood, CA
Promoter: in-house
Other act(s): Tuff & Brunnette
Attendance: ~900 / 1,200
- Tuff included Jim Gillette on lead vocals. Bobby Rock would work with him on the post-VVI Nitro project.
- From a local review: "There was not one memorable song in the Vinnie Vincent Invasion's 90-minute-plus set. Often a band with no decent tunes will try to offset this failing with a high-profile visual image. Not these guys. Vocalist Mark Slaughter's lackluster presence and generic singing style didn't help matters. Nor did the Palace's sound, as Vincent's guitar was often drowned out by Dana Strum's bass, Bobby Rock's drums--or both. In the middle of the show, Vincent took center stage for an interminably long solo that sounded more like warm-up exercises than an impressive display of skill. Bor-ing! The solo, like most of the show, drew more yawns than applause" (Los Angeles Times, 8/26/88).

August 25 - Bacchanal, San Diego, CA

August 26 - Celebrity Theatre, Anaheim, CA (Taped)
Promoter: in-house
Other act(s): Jimmy Richardson and the Freemasons & Shady Blade
Set list: Let Freedom Rock / Naughty Naughty / Back on the Streets / Shoot U Full of Love / Burn / That Time of Year / Boyz Are Gonna Rock / Twisted / Animal / Lick It Up
Notes:
- The band essentially broke up following this show.

Why were the dates with McAuley-Schenker Group canned? Can't see that working out too well anyway!

These were taken at Bogart's in Cincinnati (not Dayton), on July 14, 1988. I'm pretty sure L.A. Guns was not the opening band that night because I've never seen them live!

I was at the Anaheim show. Personally loved it. Saw Paul on his 89 Solo Tour there too.

3 things I didn't know at that time:

1. That there was fighting going on between band members. Everything seemed ok that night.
2. That this was their final show (just learned that tonight).
And
3. How close Mark St. John's house was to this place, or that I'd start taking lessons from him someday.

Great work - filled in a few blanks for me.
Circus reported that VVI were taking over from Dokken opening for Aerosmith on 1 February 1988 (All Systems Go was scheduled for February release). For whatever reason Dokken remained on the tour until White Lion took over in March.
Pretty sure the VVI/MSG tour was supposed to be a co-headline tour - certainly it was reported that MSG had to cancel when VVI pulled out. I assume there are other dates on the MSG tour as there are gaps that would have made it less economically viable.
I thought LA Guns only lasted 3 shows not 5 though.

Not clear on LA Guns (for me anyway) at this time. Certainly wasn't many (I thought it was 4). Still trying to ID...

Thanks for the other notes/additions. Like everything, an eternal work in progress.

Just a minor correction, for the 1988 dates, Vinnie played at Nashville North in TAYLORVILLE, IL, not Taylorsville. Nashville North is also no longer a facility as it closed down back in the early 2000's.

Traci guns talked about vv being an asshole in hit parader not long after the tour. He said la guns were selling way more shirts than vv which was pissing him off seems as la guns were openers. Vvi we not really getting mtv play so not much interest.

A very Interesting thing is that mark and Dana asked traci during the tour if he would join the band they were forming (slaughter). Tracii, Phil Lewis , bobby rock and mark himself all confirmed this. They knew before Detroit show that vvi was over.

There is a tape of the Vancouver show. They arrived very late, loaded in and set up in front of a packed (roughly 1000 people) house and played a shortened set. Reason given was issues at the border. Can’t be certain but pretty sure there was no opening act.
