Pretty good gates especially considering these were considered soft selling shows about a month ago.

The sell out for Golden 1 Center in Sacramento is misleading. Metallica had a reported "sell out" there last December and there were over 17,000 there. Anyways, 1.35 million is awesome for KISS.

Not really "misleading." Staging affects total seats available. 17,281.

Thanks for clarifying, cool info.

So the stage KISS is packing around took 5,000+ prospective paying customers off the table in Sacramento. If the average ticket price is over 100 bucks that might have pushed the gate near $2,000,000.

I don't know if it'd be 5,000 or whether there are other factors such as comps and other seats not included in the totals.

Yep. Metallica has set an attendance record in every arena they've played in the States (thus far) on the current NA tour.

Great business, and yes these were considered soft sellers, tonight’s Arizona show is the dog but every tour has a few. This kinda business must stick in the throat of the haters!!

If nothing else, at least that will stop the cacophony of “not one sold out show”.

No, they just cant sell tickets without a farewell gimmick...but more power to them, they're making good money so far.

It depends who you ask.

“The whole thing is this, if they do not bring in some extra carrot for the fans beyond just calling it a farewell tour, there is no way they are a pure arena headline sellout. There’s no way.”

“KISS in their current lineup can in no way play 15,000-20,000 seat arenas, again with no other name act on the bill.”

“That comes off the table if they say Ace and/or Peter are gonna come out and do three songs with us or something.”

They can and have sold plenty of tickets without a farewell gimmick.

They’ve rotated markets well, employed strong opening acts/co-headliners, and made great use of European festival to bolster their numbers. But beyond all that, the KISS brand and show just has more casual drawing power as time goes on. I don’t think any of us ever believed how long it would last.

The thing is - they made many right decisions over the years, including when to push the “new album” switch, when to pull the “classic album live” lever, when to put their concert archives out, when to take a couple years off to refresh their draw.

KISS deserves a lot of credit for doing this smartly for a very long time. They could have easily gone the way of a band like Poison or Grand Funk, but instead they are still playing for sellout arenas. It’s remarkable considering they don’t have something like a Diamond level selling album (like Metallica, U2, GNR, or the Eagles do)

Nah, don't need it. Gene says the tour is "sold out" so a movie would be just rubbing the overwhelming success in people's faces. I mean wow, four sold out nights at MSG, three sold out nights at the Forum, two sold out nights at....oh, uh, *ahem* I'm sorry, all this talk about huge success I thought it was 1996 for a minute.

Good post Nibs
 I see now the It Will fail Without Ace & Peter crowd are moving their goalposts again  Always entertaining to see idiots not realize that they're idiots in message board arguments. Everyone raise the beverage of your choice in salute to these Mental Midgets.
I am not in either camp but damn straight up calling people idiots shows us your instability.

I thought they couldn't sell tickets without Ace or Peter in the band?
No, they just cant sell tickets without a farewell gimmick...but more power to them, they're making good money so far.
It depends who you ask.

“The whole thing is this, if they do not bring in some extra carrot for the fans beyond just calling it a farewell tour, there is no way they are a pure arena headline sellout. There’s no way.”

“KISS in their current lineup can in no way play 15,000-20,000 seat arenas, again with no other name act on the bill.”

“That comes off the table if they say Ace and/or Peter are gonna come out and do three songs with us or something.”

KISS - Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
Reported audience: 11,853 **SOLD-OUT
Reported gross: $1,344,499

And that place holds 17,608 for sports.

They are giving up a lot of seats for that stage, that's for sure.

I've seen many get escorted to the door when they start going off like this. It's only a matter of time. I'm just glad this place isn't a post office.
