Sounds like Gene might've wanted Ace to keep his band on the gravy train. Which could even involve End of the Road in some manner.
Gravy train? I'm guessing that they can't be making too much touring with Ace, but maybe I am wrong...

Speaking of that - any info on how Gene's solo concerts did for ticket sales?
Here’s all available boxscores for Gene.

I really liked what I heard with Ace using these guys.

I'd go see Ace live again now.

Well it’s a step in the right direction
Now if he would just change the set list
... and dropped KISS songs he didn't even write, or co-write, and delved instead into his vast solo and sublime repertoire.
Sounds great. And then they can stop doing Cold Gin, Shock Me and Parasite.

Those are KISS songs penned by Ace, two of which weren't even originally sang by him.

Love Gun is a KISS song penned by Paul Stanley, which was not even originally sang by Ace.

The difference is quite evident, I'd say. Also...

Ace could play we have proof 4 solo albums since including Spaceman where the reviews say it’s his best guitar playing.
Trust the reviews, mein freund.

If Ace's solo work is that stellar, less of a reason for him to rely on stuff he didn't write, wouldn't you agree ?

Maybe he could do what Maiden did with A Matter of Life and Death and play Spaceman in its entirety, live.

Well, if nothing else, having Ace on their résumé can't hurt! Whichever way it works out.

Their bass player changed to guitar because of Gene playing bass.

What happens to Richie?

The same thing that happened to Scot Coogan and Chris Wyse. They were released from their employment.

Definitely not a Richie fan these days. I think Scot and Chris will be just fine.

Gene seems really loyal to the guys around him in recent years.. Just look at Tommy! His loyalty is being rewarded by managing to hang on (at least until final leg of EOTR?)
Gene's wanting to keep these guys somewhat close.. as well as keeping Ace somewhat close?! I do think Ace has been dangled a carrot... We'll see..... Ace sounded great with these guys at the Australian shows.. top notch band.. and that was barely any rehearsals..

Interesting. Chris Wyse is an amazing bass player, but maybe he has other projects. I always thought Scot Coogan got a bad rap for no reason. He is a fine drummer and sang lead vocals on the KISS stuff really well. Richie... I don't criticize him as much as everyone else. I don't mind his stage presence. The dude is just having fun and it doesn't hurt anyone or the show. His vocals were fine on a few songs. I thought it was a solid 4 piece band. I have heard rumors that Richie hasn't kicked certain habits, so maybe that was part of Ace's decision to switch things up. Who knows though.

I just don't see any reason for 2 additional guitar players in Ace's band. I hope it gets narrowed down to one rhythm player.

Gene's band sounds MUCH better than Ace's last band. ACE sounds better with Gene's band backing him up than he did with his last band.

This is a great move by Ace. I love it.

"Doesn't hurt the show" uhh... he looked like someone let the drunk in the audience who was shouting "lemme up there, I'll show you how to play that damn thing!" get up on stage and act like a total tool.

Something just occurred to me; When I was at the GS vault thing in Adelaide (the one where that Q&A clip is from) the GS Band guys were mingling with the fans etc. They were saying what a dream gig it was backing up both Gene and now Ace. I asked them if they were doing the Kruise this year and one of them said something like “as of right now no, but we’ll see how it plays out...”. I guess the discussions were happening and they were hopeful that Ace was going to enlist their services. It also goes along with Gene mocking Richie and Ace suggesting that he might reevaluate things. It all makes sense now.

A few weeks ago I threw it out there that Ace should be opening for KISS on the EOTR tour. I think it might have just taken another step towards that. Clearly I’m a freakin’ genius!

This is a much more exciting live proposition than Ace's current band, after skipping the last few Ace shows I'd definitely buy a ticket for this. Killer band.

Long story short, that Richie is a poser who doesn't know his place and how to act on stage.

I really don't care for Coogan. The other guys were pretty cool even if Richie tends to overdo it. Like you said he's just getting into it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gene's backing band ended up being cheaper than Ace's, same way I wouldn't be surprised if Gene's the one footing the bill.

Dude's a blowhard who likes to rag on Ace, but he has a soft spot for him, still.

Yep
That’s what I’m saying
No more Love Gun etc.
It’s ridiculous he does them
Wellllll....let's just take a step back, here. I haven't seen Ace solo for years, but from what I did see (back just before the Reunion) and now am hearing about recent shows, I can say that it makes TOTAL sense he performs SOME KISS favorites, for the same reason Paul and Gene say they "must" do certain songs at every show. Yes, we all love most of Ace's solo work, but why do we love Ace? Because he was in KISS. Why would anyone go see an Ace show? Same answer. Then you ask, "How many Ace songs do general audiences know compared to Gene or Paul KISS songs?" Well, then you have your full answer. Most people probably know "Shock Me" and "New York Groove." They don't know "Shot Full O' Rock" or "Insane."

Yes, he does sometimes do "Rip It Out" from his '78 solo album, or "Rocket Ride," which are of course exceptions. But he has to balance it all out, man. Of course he should play his favorites from KISS, including "Deuce," "Love Gun," "Detroit Rock City," and "Rock And Roll All Nite."

That's just my 2 cents' worth, plus some lint. :)

I would be excited for an Ace & Gene solo bands tour of the US, much more so than Kiss end of the road.

Lynch.
Not the song's best rendition, surely, but man... George still plays like his very life hangs on the balance.

Every piece of gear I play or test out, I do so by playing that song. 8)

Just saw that Ritchie's wife passed away from ALS. Maybe that played in the decision on some level too. As in Ritchie and Ace deciding to move on from each other right now.

I agree...I never minded Richie's stage presence & if Ace didnt care for Richie's style, presence, & jumping around he probably wouldn't have had him in his band...I've only seen video of Richie & Ace these past few years but seen them together twice in the 90's & thought he & Ace worked great off each other & both seemed to be enjoying themselves(I preferred seeing Ace with Richie as opposed to Ace & Todd when I seen them in '88(nothing against Todd...for my tastes I preferred Richie). Richie just seems really into his playing & I did get a kick out of Gene's comment & impression of Richie... I have nothing against Ace changing bands at this point but I did enjoy his recent band...

Ace and Gene will have some great tours and shows together once KISS is all done. I’ve seen both them and was at their reunion in St. Paul....it will be a great double bill for Kiss fans to see for years to come or as long as they both wanna play. Good work for the Nashville guys too..I’m jealous of them!

Trump has spoke. It's Evil Gene in Ace's ear

Funny Ace hasn't went on there yet to explain it to him, but Cacius got an interview ?

I think he should've kept Richie.
I think Richie is great.
It's okay if Ace wants to replace his band but I think the shots Gene and Ace took at them were out of line.

I agree as I said I've been a big fan of Richie(even have at least 4 of his cd's) since I seen him with Ace in the 90's. I can see where the shots at Richie were out of Line by Gene but I personally got a kick out of it because I can just see Richie onstage waving his arms & jumping around the way Gene did it... It made me laugh because all I kept thinking was "That's Richie!" and that's it...He's been acting like that for years and it never seemed to bother Ace & I loved it...if it did he would have fired him and not brought him back. To me Richie is Rock & Roll and I wish he and Ace would write an album together. I'm sure they will work together again
