Hide Your Heart

Probably my fave 80's Kiss song. I remember when the single was released back in oct 89, there were so many version but i've always thought the Kiss version is the best one.
The song got good airplay ad did better than Crazy Crazy nights.

Never knew Molly Hatchet recorded a version of the song......

edit: just listened to the Molly-version....doesn't sound much like the Molly-records I have (Beatin the odds and Flirtin' with disaster + plus a compilation)

Didnt do better than Crazy Crazy Nights in the UK, it did nothing in the UK. And really fuck all in the USA either. It was Forever that saved that album.

True. At the Indy Expo, Bruce stated that his highlight in KISS was his solo in “Forever”.

Re: Hide Your Heart

Credit to Paul for writing the song, but the West Side Story-lite story line combined with his lispy delivery is a bit of a one-two punch, in my opinion. I'll go with Ace on this one.

Re: Hide Your Heart

KISS' version would be my first choice, Robin in 2nd place (great voice) - Ace I'd put at fourth...problem for me with Ace he always sounds so sloppy...maybe he knows there's not much of a singing voice to begin with, so he may try to hide it behind some attitude.....

Molly's version would be last (although the guitar-stuff was pretty nice)

i'm talking about US radio airplay and the song did perform much better that the previous single (crazy crazy nights) both in rock radio and to40 as well.

Re: Hide Your Heart

Usually with something like this, I'd have a clear cut favorite. With this song, I don't. I really like the KISS version, but (IMHO) Ace's version captures the vibe of the song better. His has an almost West Side Story feel which fits it perfectly, where Paul's is... I don't know... Cleaner? More upbeat? More radio friendly? Whatever the term I'm looking for is, I like it. The two are pretty even for me, it just depends on my mood and how I want to hear it at any given time. I haven't heard to the other versions in years.

Re: Hide Your Heart

KISS version is better...

But I think Bonnie's version is cooler than Molly's and Robin's and even Ace's.

Ace version is kinda weak..I don't know..I didnt like his vocals...not loud enough.

Re: Hide Your Heart

"Hide Your Heart" should have never been released on a Kiss record. It's not a Kiss song. Paul thought it was a hit, but Ron Nevison knew it wasn't when he rejected it for the Crazy Nights album. (Best. Decision. Ever.)

The song was released by umpteen different artists in the hopes of it being a smash hit and it flopped each time... I don't think even Black N' Blue had as many chances to be a hit as "Hide Your Heart" did.

I like Bonnie Tylers version.

Ace version has more personality than KISS version.

KISS’ version has tons of personality. It’s just Bon Jovi’s personality.

what a sentence! come down from the pedestal..... so for you there's Kiss songs and no Kiss songs. What about IWMFLY, Shandy, Forever, Evertytime i look at you, Beth, Tears are falling, Reason to live, My way, Great expectation, A world without hersoes..... and the list goes on and on!
