I used to have a ton of 'em on cassette. I honestly don't know what happened to them over the years.

He did 5 confirmed shows in 1985. One of the shows from L'amour is available on vinyl, and called Back in the Groove. A decent recording.

I know about this bootleg, but I did not find any links to download it. :(

Yeah there's tons of cool stuff on Kissfaq, a few broken links here & there but very well worth looking around if you haven't already

I have to dig through my magazine collection, but I think I have this issue from back then.

Apologies, yeah, the reason I posted that portion of the article is because it mentioned Ace had played 7 shows to that point.

Re: Ace Frehley 1985

Related question, something I've always been curious about but a casual Google search turns up nothing:

When was Ace first openly photographed--and that photograph published--without makeup after leaving Kiss in '82? I'd been a KISS fan since around '77 as a kid, but sort of lost track of them after Unmasked and only "discovered" their "new" albums (Elder and Creatures) as a pre-teen whenever stumbling upon them in record stores. Then when Lick It Up came out, I wasn't aware that Ace was out and wondered if Vinnie is what Ace looked like without makeup. When I learned it was a new guitar player, I kept my eyes open for Ace and Peter without makeup. I think I saw the bearded Peter in Metal Edge or some publication like that, but never saw Ace until the Frehley's Comet stuff. Were there any public pictures of him post-82 without makeup?

Just curious. Thanks.

He was on the back cover of Kick Ass Monthly Magazine before the amp ads. The picture was a live shot from one of the L'Amours club shows on March 8 and 9, 1985. Of course, now I can't find it anywhere.

That sloppy seconds album was released in 1989, that's a 1989 or 1990 picture

Re: Ace Frehley 1985

Anyone old enough on the FAQ attend any of his 1985 shows?

I know two people that went. One said the LaMours show started out great but quickly lost steam. He said people in the crowd were shouting and yelling
out KISS songs they wanted to hear. He then said some people starting leaving midway through the show.

My friend was a bit let down because he drove from the NJ Deep Purple reunion concert to catch Ace.

He also said there was a guy dressed as Gene (in full makeup and costume) which I found a little odd.....especially at a Ace show.

My other friend that caught one of his other shows said the show was OK, but Ace wasn't in great shape. He said Ace even had a oxygen tank on the side of the stage
that he used in between some songs.

Both of them also thought that many fans showed up because they wanted to see what he looked like w/out the makeup.

I was also told that Ace did a few quick and short M&G's before his soundchecks. He said Ace and his assistant drove up in a red Fiero (!) and he had on his blazer,
Gumby shirt underneath and shades (like in the pictures above). Ace wouldn't take any photos but my friend was able to get his Ace Dynasty era poster signed.
