3rd Edition, Volume 1, Corrigendum
POST-PUBLICATION CORRECTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS
In the introduction to the KISS Album Focus I stated, "In a work of this scope there is always the possibility
(probability) that errors and/or inaccuracies have slipped past my proof-reading and continuous revision". Sometimes,
no matter how much work has gone into the research and revision process, shit happens! Next to the page number are three
different denominators: (SC) - Softcover; (HBI) - Hardbound, Illustrated (also available as a softcover)... There were two
print runs of the KISSFAQ softcover edition, only 100 copies of the first printing which has the last page of the book
reversed (page 480, blank page, then page 481). This was corrected on the second printing, though no other changes were
made to the work. The illustrated versions of the book have a couple of minor changes, predominantly in terms of formatting,
in addition to the illustrations.
- P.10 (HBI) - Typo... "Remaied" should read "remained"... Yikes, this stuff kills me!
- P.22 (SC) - Typo... "By early late 1969 Peter was playing in a band called Nautilus" should read "late 1969"...
- P.29 (HBI) - Typo... "By early late 1969 Peter was playing in a band called Nautilus" should read "late 1969"...
- P.29 (SC) - Typo... Cafe Wah should read Cafe Wha...
- P.45 (SC) - PS75 (Public School #75), where Gene taught elementary school, is not in "Spanish Harlem," as
suggested in the book, and elsewhere. The school is on 96th Street and West End Avenue, the area known as the Upper West
Side. Apparently, Gene would bring his guitar to school with him and play Beatles songs for the kids...
- P.48 (SC) - "Of his early bands Paul," should read "Of Paul's early bands,"...
- P.81 (SC) - "Ace was the sound of KISS, more so that" should read "more so than"...
- P.185 (SC) / 209 (HBI) - The nuclear blast picture: "Possibly the most interesting thing about the
album packaging to note is that the cover art, designed by Dennis Woloch, used a nuclear explosion picture similar to that
which had previously been used on Jefferson Airplane's "Crown Of Creation" (1968) in a similar format. It was taken of a
1950s Nevada atomic test explosion." It's not the same as the Jefferson Airplane cover, just similar in style...
- P.252/364 (HBI) - The picture text descriptions on these pages are swapped. The text description on
p364 refers to the image on p252, and vice-versa...
