Produced by Lewis Merenstein. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios and Vanguard Studios in NYC, NY, 1970. Engineered by Ron Johnsen. John Cale provides to viola solo, album also features Steve Loeb. Peter Criss credited as Peter Cris. Track B4 is simply an arrangement of a very much earlier traditional Irish song, which had been covered, in 1962, by the folk group Peter, Paul, and Mary... The first KISS member to get on vinyl (that was actually released versus demoed!), though Chelsea split soon after this album was released. The release date falls at the end of 1970 or the beginning of 1971 for the US release. For the MCA sound conspiracy see the associated/compilation discography. Click on cover for large scan.

   B3. Hard Rock Music (5:30) - Shepley/Brand

One Chelsea track included on this sampler LP. This format was similar to the Warner Bros. "loss leaders" which put tracks from popular artists on cheaper compilation albums to allow buyers to sample artists offerings in hopes that they'd then purchase the more expensive full albums. It would seem quite possible that the compilation was released in other countries too. The Canadian version is subtitled "The MCA Sound Conspiracy by Bill Levy" and is identical to the US version, except for having "Printed In Canada" on the lower-left of the front cover, and a manufacture detail box on the lower-right of the rear cover. The vinyl is pressed by the Compo Company...

Track 11 is a brief unlisted clip which takes a line from the famous film Casablanca, "you must remember this, a kiss is but a kiss". Covers of original and remaster versions vary slightly in a manner of their cropping and the person who gets cropped out (Debbie, Peter's ex by the time of the remaster). See above: Left = Original Issue; Right = Remaster. The Mexican version of this album features altered (but similar to the US original) artwork which incorporates a small picture of Peter in KISS makeup onto the album packaging.

Produced by Vini Poncia. Recorded at Conway Recording Studios, LA, CA, Spring 1982. Engineered by Bob Schaper and Phil Moores (Assistant), cover photography by Trevor Brown. For 16 years this album remained unreleased in the USA, this was rectified in April 1998 with the release of the Remaster. For some odd reason the Remaster's cover swaps the picture from the original album's back cover for use on the front cover (and vice-versa, though it should be noted that the original German version used the happy face as the front while the original Dutch version used the straight face). The Japanese release is incredibly rare, usually selling for around $150. Cover scans (L-R) Original Dutch / Japanese / Remaster. The Mexican version of this album features altered (but similar to the US original) artwork which incorporates a small picture of Peter in KISS makeup onto the album packaging....
