LIGHTNING: DISCO SYMPHONY

Casablanca NBD-20205DJ (US, Nov. 1979)
[See It!] Promotional 12" Center Ring

   A1. Disco Symphony (10:05) - Siano
B1. Baby Without Your Love (07:03) - Siano

A 12" Single off the album. Produced by Lewis Merenstein and Ralph Moss. Assistant producer Howard Merritt. Recorded at the Sound Place, NY. I've only seen this as a promo. Because of the track length it is doubtful that this was released in 7" format.

Produced by Lewis Merenstein and Ralph Moss. Assistant producer Howard Merritt. Recorded at the Sound Place, NY. Eric is creditted as Paul Caravello on drums and backing vocals. This record is extremely rare and hard to find. "Bionic Boogie" actually an alternative touring name for Mother Nature Father Time and featured some of the same people Eric had been working with for most of the 1970's, yet "Bionic Boogie" is mentioned nowhere on the packaging. There are two versions of the packaging: the spine on one is sliver/grey with black lettering; and on the other it is beige, a wrap around of the cover graphic. There are also two pressings, one by Casablanca and one by PolyGram, both at the same time. Additionally, I am finally able to confirm that regular release versions of the album, copies *NOT* stamped "promo" on the cover or album, *WERE* released, but these are far more rare than the promotional version judging by the number that have turned up. There are also copies which list the wrong release code (NBLP7173, which was actually Don McClean). Other band members on the record:

   Paul Caravello_________Drums/Backing Vocals
   John Henderson_________Guitar/Backing Vocals/Lead Vocals
			  on A2, B2 & B3.
   Tom Siano______________Guitar/Backing Vocals
   Eddie Dozier___________Backing Vocals/Lead Vocals on A1 & B1.
   David Collier__________Bass/Backing Vocals.
   Jerry Plotkin__________Keyboards.
   Bo Tamlyn______________Synthesizer on A1, A2, B1, & B3.
   Obie O' Brian__________Keyboards.
   Dino Kovacs____________Keyboards.
   Jeff Ross______________Guitar.
   Ricky Cardona__________Congos on A1.
   Julie Burger___________Backing Vocals on A2 & B2.
   Holly Oasi_____________Backing Vocals on A2 & B2.
   Mika Richardson________Strings & Horns Arranging

Larger high resolution copys of the above images are available. Zoom in on the rear cover image to read the back credits (click on it!), and click on the front cover for a larger scan! According to Dale Sherman in Black Diamond, 5 or six copies of the album exist - this I know to be incorrect as I know the location of far more copies than that number, I own 3 and sold 12 others. Other sources close to the Caravello family put the number closer to fifty which I also somewhat doubt due to the frequency with which the album is popping up!

Statistics on the copies that have been found (so far!):
Regular Release Version NBLP-7170 = 12
Promotional Release Version NBLP-7170DJ = 26

There are assorted pressings, demonstrated by the varying matrix numbers etched in the run out grooves. This also would indicate that a goodly number of records were produced, pressed at a variety of locations. Thanks to Sean Reid for the information he put together from his own extensive interactions with the album! Matrix codes appear to run as follow:
1. NBLP-7170-AS-PRC-C1 & BS-PRC-C1 ("C" series)
2. NBLP-7170-AS-PRC-R1 & BS-PRC-R3(R4) ("R" series)
** Some copies have R3 on the B-side, others R4...
3. NBLP-7170-AS-K2 & BS-K2 ("K" series)
