ERIC CARR (7/12/50 - 11/24/91)
Because Eric was a drummer there is not too much of a separate discography for him. As a tribute to him I
will attempt to detail his carreer here and his notable recordings and songs. NOTE: The solo album graphic presented here
is a combination of two currently available on the net. The pseudo album cover is available at KISS Asylum, and the
painting, commissioned by Eric himself, by Eraldo Carugati, the artist who did the original solo album covers, comes from
a poster currently available from the KISS Freaks site (www.kissfreaks.com). I have combined the two for use
here.
THE CELLERMEN: I CRY AT NIGHT
No Label - Independent Release (USA, c. 1967)
A1. I Cry At Night (2:01) - Caravello
B1. Your Turn To Cry (2:09) - Caravello
This independent single is not a proper release, as such, it was a private pressing of aproximately 25 copies which was pressed
for distribution to record lables in hopes of getting interest in the band. It is however, some of the earliest recorded Eric Carr, who
plays harmonica, tamborine and sings. Track 1 was included on a KISS tribute Album, "KAOL2: Creatures Of The Net", released in early 1998.
Track 2 was released on the reissue of "KAOL Music From The Folder '99" later that same year. Both songs have since been withdrawn from
KAOL releases.
THE CELLARMEN: THEN I MADE A WISH
No Label - Independent Release (USA, c. 1968)
A1. Then I Made A Wish
B1. I Found You
This independent single is not a proper release, as such, it was a private pressing of aproximately 15 copies which was pressed
for songwriter's to publish their material.
CRYSTAL COLLINS: NO MATTER HOW YOU TRY
No Label - Independent Release (USA, c. 1969)
A1. No Matter How You Try
B1. When You Grow Tired
Crystal Collins was a friend of members of the Cellarmen who sang vocals on two demo recordings with the band providing the
backing music. As with the case with the previously mentioned singles, this will not found in record stores!
BIONIC BOOGIE
Polydor PD-1-6123 (USA, 1977)
A1. Dance Little Dreamer (3:40) - Diamond
A2. Risky Changes (6:19) - Diamond
A3. Don't Lose That Number (Mumbo Jumbo) (4:50) - Diamond
A4. Boogie Boo (5:16) - Diamond
B1. We Must Believe in Magic (4:56) - Diamond
B2. Stop The Music (4:53) - Diamond
B3. Feel Like Dancing (3:55) - Diamond / Gregory
B4. Big West (4:50) - Diamond
Back in 1996/7 if one were to look at A&C Memorobilia's site (that's Eric's family's site) one would be able to view a Mother Nature / Father
Time with the band billed as "Bionic Boogie" and listing their 'hits' "Risky Changes" and "Cream". Well the songs were by Bionic Boogie, but the
recordings have nothing whatsoever to do with Eric Carr or MN/FT, except in the fact that they appeared billed as that band to perform those disco
hits. "Risky Changes(Edit)/Big West" was also available as a 7" and 12" single. "Cream (Always Rises To The Top)/Chains" was a later 12" single
as was "Hot Butterfly". One last Bionic Boogie single was "Tiger, Tiger"... Musicians on the recordings include Gregg Diamond, Lance Quinn, Steve
Love, Jim Gregory, Alan Schwartzberg...
LIGHTNING: DISCO SYMPHONY
Casablanca NBD-20205DJ (US, Nov. 1979)
Promotional 12" Center Ring
A1. Disco Symphony (10:05) - Siano
B1. Baby Without Your Love (07:03) - Siano
A 12" Single off the album. Produced by Lewis Merenstein and Ralph Moss. Assistant producer Howard Merritt.
Recorded at the Sound Place, NY. I've only seen this as a promo. Because of
the track length it is doubtful that this was released in 7" format.

Album Center Ring, Normal Release Version (PRC)
A1. Disco Symphony (10:05) - Siano
A2. In And Out Of Love (06:41) - Siano
B1. Baby Without Your Love (07:03) - Siano
B2. I Love The Way You Love Me (05:25) - Siano/Henderson/Dozier
B3. One Step At A Time (06:28) - Henderson/Dozier
Produced by Lewis Merenstein and Ralph Moss. Assistant producer Howard Merritt. Recorded at the Sound Place, NY.
Eric is creditted as Paul Caravello on drums and backing vocals. This record is extremely rare and hard to find.
"Bionic Boogie" actually an alternative touring name for Mother Nature Father Time and featured some of the same
people Eric had been working with for most of the 1970's, yet "Bionic Boogie" is mentioned nowhere on the
packaging. There are two versions of the packaging: the spine on one is sliver/grey with black lettering; and on
the other it is beige, a wrap around of the cover graphic. There are also two pressings, one by Casablanca and one by PolyGram,
both at the same time. Additionally, I am finally able to confirm that regular release versions of the album, copies
*NOT* stamped "promo" on the cover or album, *WERE* released, but these are far more rare than the promotional version
judging by the number that have turned up. There are also copies which list the wrong release code (NBLP7173, which was
actually Don McClean). Other band members on the record:
Larger high resolution copys of the above images are available. Zoom in on the rear cover image to read the back
credits (click on it!), and click on the front cover for a larger scan! According to Dale Sherman in Black Diamond,
5 or six copies of the album exist - this I know to be incorrect as I know the location of 15 copies, I myself own 3 and
sold 8 others. Other sources close to the Caravello family put the number closer to fifty, this I agree with though
it doesn't affect the rarity of the album!
Statistics on the copies that have been found (so far!):
Regular Release Version NBLP-7170 = 1
- PolyGram Pressing = 1
Promotional Release Version NBLP-7170DJ = 14
- Casablanca Pressing = 11
- PolyGram Pressing = 3

Chronology of Paul Caravello
Compiled from online sources and recent books...
1950, July 12 - Paul born in Brooklyn, New York.
1950s - While in grade school at PS-159 plays Scarecrow, in the Wizerd of Oz, and gets stuck on the tree...
1964, Autumn - Paul begins studying cartooning at the Manhattan High School of Art and Design.
1964, Autumn - After six weeks studying cartooning, where he was unable to "draw on demand", Paul switches courses to
study photography... or was it drinking?

previous four years.
1968 - Paul's earliest proper band, The Cellermen, record two demos, both of which were written and sung by Paul. "Your

early-1965. They also display Paul's songwriting and vocal talents.
1970 - Paul works for the Royal Tobacco Company delivering cigarettes for international export at Kennedy Airport in NY.
1970 - Paul teams up with John (Guitar) and Sarita (Vocals) Henderson to form Salt & Pepper with three other musicians. The
other three are African-American musicians, hence the band name. These three stay together for the 1970's in a band with an
often changing line-up and name!

breaks out at arounf 1am, resulting in the death of two band members, the keyboard player and lead singer George Chase,
and 22 members of the audience. Paul saves the life of the band's vocalist, Sarita Henderson.
1974, July 1 - As a result of the fire, both Paul and John Henderson, appear in the New York Times recounting the events of
the previous night.
1974, July - Paul and John again recount the events surrounding the fire, this time on CBS' Sunday morning TV News program,

1979, Autumn - Using the stage name Lightning, MNFT release a 5 track album on the Casablanca label, "Lightning"...
1979, October - After years of stalling and lack of success, John Henderson finally quits MNFT to explore new options. The
band members who all seem to agree that they were going nowhere also move off in search of new ideas.
1979, December - Paul becomes a member of a 4-piece rock combo, called Flasher, doing cover songs...

the famous bright-orange folder to Aucoin Management.
1980, June 19 - Paul attends an interview with Bill Aucoin at his Madison Avenue office. Later that day, on the suggestion
of Bill Aucoin, Paul shaves his mustache off...
