CHAPTER 60 - Bruce Kulick extra-KISS

“Everybody’s Crazy” Album Notes:

Produced by Neil Kernon and Randy Goodrum. Features Bruce on Guitar on all tracks except one, “Desperate Heart.” Michael Bolton’s “Everybody’s Crazy” album would be Bruce’s first extra-KISS appearance after joining the band in an official capacity. Bruce would not play on one track, “Desperate Heart,” on Michael’s 1985 album.

60.01. Everybody’s Crazy

60.02. Save Our Love

60.03. Can’t Turn It Off

60.04. Call My Name

60.05. Everytime

60.06. Start Breaking My Heart

60.07. You Don’t Want Me Bad Enough

60.08. Don’t Tell Me It’s Over

60.09. Do Me Right (Maria Vidal)

Bruce plays “additional” guitar on this Desmond Child written track. Maria Vidal had been one of the vocalists in Desmond’s band “Rouge.” She released her self-titled debut album in 1987.

60.10. Hot Love (Michael Bolton)

Bruce plays minimal guitar on this 3:47 Bolton/Briley composition from Michael’s 1987 “The Hunger” album. Interestingly, Bob Halligan, Jr., with whom KISS would write material for “Hot In The Shade,” would also play guitar and sing backing vocals on this album.

60.11. Take A Look At My Face (Michael Bolton)

Bruce plays the second guitar solo on this 4:00 Bolton/Briley composition.

60.12. Chains Of Love (Michael Bolton)

Written by Bruce, Michael Bolotin, and Desmond Child, this song probably dates from 1987-9 as that was the period when Desmond and Michael started writing together. However, the song has apparently not been used by Michael or any other artist.

60.13. Love On A Rooftop (Ronnie Spector)

Bruce plays guitar on this Desmond Child, Diane Warren, and Paul Stanley composition which runs 5:00. The song would be released on Ronnie’s “Unfinished Business” album in 1987.

60.14. Your Love Is Safe With Me (Don Johnson)

Bruce plays guitar on this track on the Miami Vice actor’s “Let It Roll” album (1989) along with former Sex Pistol’s guitarist Steve Jones.

60.15. All Night Long (Silent Rage)

Written by Bruce and Adam Mitchell, Bruce knew that the song was not suited to KISS and it ended up on the Simmons’ Records act album. Interestingly, the band would include Jesse Damon, who would co-write material with KISS, and Brian Fox, who had been on Mark St. John’s post-KISS band “White Tiger.”

60.16. Guitar Commandos (Skull)

Co-written with brother Bob Kulick this song would appear on Bob’s Skull project’s “No Bones About It” album in 1991. Bruce would share lead guitar duties on this track. Skull included Dennis St. James who had been the bassist on Paul Stanley’s solo tour.

60.17. Loser’s Game (Skull)

This 3:44 track from the “Skull” album was co-written by Bob, Bruce and Adam Mitchell. Bruce would not play on the recording.

60.18. Zeptune (Instrumental)

Zeptune” started off as a musical idea for KISS which was never used. Bruce developed the piece in 1990 as a full-on instrumental that was released on “Guitar’s Practicing Musician, Volume 2” in September 1991.

60.19. We Won’t Be Forgotten (Blackthorne)

This 6:00 track would be written by Bob, Bruce, and Paul Taylor. Bruce doesn’t play on the 1993 recording. Blackthorne was Bob’s project which included vocalist Graham Bonnet and keyboard player Jimmy Waldo (ex-New England, ex-Warrior, ex-Alcatrazz).

60.20. Over And Over (Blackthorne)

Bruce played “additional” guitar on this 4:48 recording written by Bob, Bruce, and ex-Autograph singer Steve Plunkett. Both 60.19 & 20 were released on the Blackthorn “Afterlife” album on May 17, 1993.

60.21. Red Rain Fallin’ (Murderer’s Row)

Something of a continuation of the sort of project “Blackthorne” had been with vocalist David Glen Eisley in place of Graham Bonnet. This 4:40 Bob, Bruce, and David composed song would simply provide a song-writing credit for Bruce in 1996.

60.22. Korg G3 Medley (Instrumental)

The “Korg G3 Medley” was a medley of KISS related material Bruce recorded in 1993 for a special Korg G3 multi-FX board dial-in promotion. As a result the demo was only available over the phone, so sadly quality recordings do not exist. The medley was home-recorded and included parts of “Unholy,” “God Gave Rock And Roll To You II,” “Detroit Rock City,” “Heart Of Chrome,” “Unholy,” and “Star Spangled Banner.”
