KISS' May 15 concert at USCE Stadium in Belgrade, Serbia has now been cancelled: According to PR, "We regret that due to security concerns relayed by US government intelligence and the unwillingness of our tour insurance policy to cover our concert, we have been left with no choice but to cancel our show in Belgrade. Because of our excitement at returning to play for our many Serbian fans, we all share in the same disappointment and it is our hope to return soon" (KISS Online). However, the cancellation of the show had been rumored for more than a week prior to the official announcement. Additionally, with the riots that followed the declaration of independence by Kosovo, and US recognition of the break-away state, the cancellation was hardly surprising. Serbian rioters broke into the US Embassy in Belgrade and burned it.
KISSFAQ Says: I won't go into the politics, but I do wonder if the shows in Russia could also be at risk due to known social issues there and the political relationship between the two governments, particularly in light of the Kosovo incident. I'd hope that Russian fans finally get the opportunity to have KISS visit them, but KISS' 1999 shows in Russia were also cancelled due to issues in the region.
