This "News" page generally only relates to matters of interest to the KISSFAQ. There's no need to replicate news that can be seen on other KISS websites though many of them are incapable of original reporting. If you use information appearing on this or any other KISSFAQ page, in print (fanzines) or online (directly quoted or rewritten), please have the courtesy to say where it came from. If printing in fanzines, I'd love a copy sent to the KISSFAQ PO Box. Should you want official announcements please visit the band's official website at: KISSONLINE.COM.

KISSFAQ's "Concertology" updated...

Friday, April 18, 2008 4:05:24 AM

The KISSFAQ "Concertology, 2002-8" has become the KISSFAQ "Concertology, 1998-2008" with a massive update. While the feature covers the band's touring history (plus solo outings by Paul and Ace) post 2002, it has been expanded to include the "Psycho Circus" and "Farewell" tours. The feature now includes line charts of tour sales figures, dating back to 1996, and will eventually encompass KISS live history from 1993. It is not a replacement for the unbelievably awesome "KISS Alive Forever," but a supplement. This feature changes regularly as data is added: The "Farewell" song performance list is currently being worked on, and once KISS and Ace resume their tours the document will be updated on a daily basis! So check it out, HERE (Adobe Acrobat Reader FREE Download required).

As revealed during the March 15th episode of "Talking Metal on Fuse," SplitScreen Entertainment has announced its upcoming tribute album, KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent. Though Vinnie himself has not released any new material in over a decade, KISS MY ANKH will pay tribute to the undeniable musical legacy of the former Kiss guitarist. Vinnie's compositions are widely regarded as a highlight of the Kiss catalog and remain a staple of the live Kiss set list. Included on the tribute will be selections from the three Kiss albums to which Vinnie contributed, as well as the two albums he released with the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Participating artists and track listings will be announced as they are confirmed.

KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent is scheduled for a Summer 2008 release.

KISS Belgrade Show officially cancelled...

Sunday, April 13, 2008 8:21:38 AM

KISS' May 15 concert at USCE Stadium in Belgrade, Serbia has now been cancelled: According to PR, "We regret that due to security concerns relayed by US government intelligence and the unwillingness of our tour insurance policy to cover our concert, we have been left with no choice but to cancel our show in Belgrade. Because of our excitement at returning to play for our many Serbian fans, we all share in the same disappointment and it is our hope to return soon" (KISS Online). However, the cancellation of the show had been rumored for more than a week prior to the official announcement. Additionally, with the riots that followed the declaration of independence by Kosovo, and US recognition of the break-away state, the cancellation was hardly surprising. Serbian rioters broke into the US Embassy in Belgrade and burned it.

KISSFAQ Says: I won't go into the politics, but I do wonder if the shows in Russia could also be at risk due to known social issues there and the political relationship between the two governments, particularly in light of the Kosovo incident. I'd hope that Russian fans finally get the opportunity to have KISS visit them, but KISS' 1999 shows in Russia were also cancelled due to issues in the region.
